I own two Fed IV's and have not had an issue with the crown tapering. You are lucky that you can go to the store and pick out the one you want. Like the others have stated, I have worn mine in down pours and snow storms and they hold up just fine. Good luck on just walking out with one hat....
I have not tried to shape a brim with the hat shaper, but I do have the open crown with out the add a brim feature that I have used to take out creases so that I could reshape them. I have had good luck with it and have found the HatShaper to be useful.
SurfGent, those are some fine looking weapons. I have always found the Sig to be much more fun to shoot than the PPK....no slide bite. What year is that Sig?

I have heard of them, but have never got to handle one. They look like a very solid revolver. And I am very partial to 6 shot snub nose revolvers. Is that a k-frame speed loader that you have with it?

Not from a prison tower, but my right ear. I get that same look from my wife and my daughter too. I am now at the point that when I am working with long guns, I use both the foam ear plugs and the "ear muffs".
