dhermann1 I agree...I miss vintage betty. I like doing research but didn't have a clue on how to research the mystery lady. VB is so knowledgable about so many subjects. And I miss Doran too. I think sometimes a person just has to step away from a discussion that's getting too heated and fight...
Cantorfan, just a hint. If you right click on a pic from a website and look at "properties" you can see the website it's from. In this case, evadress.com http://evadress.com/
This is from a post on paris daily photo http://www.parisdailyphoto.com/
It is part of a button exhibition that was going on in Paris at the Mona Bismarck foundation, located at avenue de New York. Yes, it's made of buttons! The artist of this "painting" is Lisa Kokin. Go here for a close-up...
Yea! hair! Funny how excited you can get by 1/2" of baby fine hair isn't it? You sound positive and that's great. We're all wishing you the best. Keep us posted.
This is a different hat pattern from Vintage Pattern Lending Library. It has 2darted crown pieces and a brim piece.
It's only $5. Anyone tried this pattern yet?

I guess you're not talking about old Mickey Mouse and company, Little Lulu and those kind of comics? They were the only ones my friends and I read. The "boy" comics never interested us at all.
atomik_momma, the top pair of Worishofers are extremely comfortable. I wear mine everywhere, even all day at Disneyland with no problems- in fact I've bought a new pair every year for the last 3 years! They're made in Germany, with padded insole and arch support. I bought a pair of these, below...
1960 was more like the 50's. It was pre-British invasion, pre-Sonny and Cher, pre-surfer. I don't think they were wearing pale lipstick in 1960. The main look seems to be really short bangs. Do a search for "1960 yearbook".
Here's one:

I recall going to a Civil War re-enactment in the early 1960's, so they were "living" the era then. Also, I was collecting and wearing Victorian clothes in the mid-1970s, though there weren't many places to wear them. Mainly the gun and knife shows that had costume contests.
I think there...
I think you put a small section of hair through the slot, pull it to near the end of your hair ( so just the ends are sticking thru the slot), then twirl it to wrap your hair around it all the way to the scalp. Then you just slide the hair off the curler and your pincurl is ready to be clipped...
I've found (the hard way of course) that fabric choice is soooo important in making a garment look like the pattern picture. To get just the right drape and such. I think that besides incredible sewing skills Lauren, you really are good at finding the right type of fabric for your patterns. That...
The fact that I have a vintage hat just like it to help me make a pattern would definitely make it easier. Ok, now it's at the top of my "one of these days" list.
That is a truly horrible, unflattering shirt. It might be worth it to take them to a tailor and have them taken in on the side seams to be more flattering. I was a letter carrier and some of the carriers had their uniforms tailored just so they wouldn't feel so frumpy.
Ive looked at this from Vintage Pattern Lending Library too. Especially the blue one in the middle looks sooo easy. Just 4 pieces of felt for the crown and a brim. It's on my "one of these days" list. The "belting" refers to a non-stretching, non-fraying ribbon or facing for the inside...
I promised LadyDay I would post a photo. For some big occasion my dad wanted to buy my mom some extravagant piece of jewelry, but she, being practical, told him it was a waste of money. She had pearls and some gold jewelry that she only rarely had a chance to wear. So, he wracked his brain and...
