Are those the ones that they stuck on their faces to cover up marks from pox, pest, mercury burns and other atrocities? lol
I think I've read about a product designated to draw on beauty marks ... probably in some kind of Dita-related article. It looks like liquid eyeliner and comes in a...
How cool and cute that you fell in love with Rizzo the bad gal instead of Olivia Newton-John! lol
(this comes from someone who is probably likes seamed stockings because of watching the Benny Hill Show as a child  )
They clearly don't deserve your custom! I know what it's like to order something and end up not receiving it when you've already fantasized about what to wear with it and so on.
there's also Rocket Originals in the UK. I've been contemplating the red/navy Esther ones ... but I've decided I have...
Whoopsie! They are called Cabaret Heels on the Anthropologie site. I really like the slightly flared shape of the heel.
Good idea about phoning the office, I might do that :)
Actually it should have been in a different thread since it isn't mineral make-up but ordinary (rice?) powder. It's just a really really good formula that goes back to the 18th century. The violet and orchid shades are similar to ones I've seen in 20s and 30s face powder ads. I think they are...
I've been wondering about this too! Can we start a separate thread on this subject? I also found the bit about the British take on Modernism on the Old Town Clothing website super interesting:
"Britain didn’t quite take to the European style hard edged Modernism of the Twenties and Thirties...
These Chie Mihara shoes from Anthropologie are so beautiful!
I suppose they are from the new AW collection so they must be available from a European retailer, I hope ...
I just checked bibliotek.dk and it seems they can reserve it from other libraries in other cities. If everything else fails I can have it reserved and copy it for you? I'd quite like to read it myself.
Or maybe abebooks.com has it. I order books from there all the time from all over the world...
I believe Brigitte Bardot more or less introduced this look. Nude lips, smudged eye makeup and unruly hair suggested wild, sleepless nights and made red lips seem very conservative, prim and proper. Pastel pinks were probably around earlier but didn't have the same outrageous connotations...
I don't mean to hijack Darhling's thread ...
But I was wondering if anyone has a 1930's makeup look down that they'd like to share?
I've been on a 30's kick lately (partly due to Amy Jeannes glam spams! ;) ) but my attemps end up rather clownish-looking, aargh!
There's something about that workwear aspect that really appeals to me. It seems so authentic - though I hate to use that word. But then again, I'm probably more into everyday vintage styles than the whole glam thing. The prices are a bit steep for something you're not able to see in person...
Dahrling, I have the Charnos hourglass corselette too, and I had to go down a band size in order to not get excess fabric floating around the waist. I love the blush colour and the balconette bra cups are genius! Charnos is very good value for money imo.
For some reason I always assumed that...
I just discovered this Dutch swimwear brand, Mama Maria.
It doesn't seem to be maternity swimwear, though the name could lead you to think so.
They have some very cute styles in their webshop!
I once read a horrifying story about the Swedish singer Lill-Babs. She was about to go on stage and had reached in her make-up bag for what she thought was eye drops. It turned out that it was in fact super nail glue and that she had glued her eye shut. Shudder...
