That's absolutely amazing, now I know I'm going to spend way too much time flicking through these. I don't know an awful lot about Daells Varehus either, except that it wasn't exactly a high-end department store but rather a discount one. I wonder if the fashions reflect that?
You can right click on the picture --> copy picture URL address ---> paste it into your post between tags. It's the impolite way of posting pictures, some might consider it stealing bandwidth, others may say it's just the nature of the world wide web.
Oh, you have to go see it then! They're both so charming and playful. Ben Whishaw makes a much more delicious Sebastian Flyte in my opinion.
Now there's another very hot ménage à trois film! Although I found Eva Green to be the hottest one in it. That women is a goddess from head to toe.
Kitty S., the gym suit may very well be the one your friend is selling - I thought it was so cool so I nicked the pictures from the auction! :) I'd love to hear the full story, how she got it and so on. Do you have any pictures left of those 40s showgirls outfits?
Yes, it does seem that satin...
Lately I've been obsessed with looking at old pictures of chorus girls, female gymnasts and sportswomen and the clothes they were wearing. It seems like there were very specific rules about the chorus girl tap dancing outfit of the 1920s and 1930s in particular - shorts, silky blouse or halter...
Yay, I was so hoping that someone here would pick up those shoes! I wasn't entirely sure they were "speaking" to me, so I'd rather leave them for someone else. :) A total bargain, and in a larger size, too. Congratulations!
Laura Chase, those mock croc Chie Miharas are so you! Very elegant...
Naama, I agree about Alain Delon in "Plein Soleil"! I can also recommend Joseph Losey's "Monsieur Klein" in which Delon plays a jew in early 1940s Paris --> amazing outfits.
Come to think of it, Alain Delon looks a lot like my childhood crush, Mårten Harket of A-Ha :)
Did anyone else find the boy-on-boy thing in the Brideshead Revisited remake INCREDIBLY hot? I was so disappointed when Charles started going for Julia instead of Sebastian!
I have the same problem with brown eyebrown pencils. Even though I'm a brunette, brown pencils are always too much of a warm coffee brown, and black looks too harsh. The only shade I've ever found to match my eyebrows perfectly is Raven from Alima. It's a very dark grey-brown. Sounds weird but...
Well, the pleasure is on my side, I've never seen a real living persons with that kind of huge eyes before so it's cool to see that it's humanly possible (since Joan Crawford obviously wasn't human lol).
Please post your picture in the If you said you looked like one celebrity ... thread!
I picked up these two patterns from Etsy, they were $5 each :D
I love that button-up back on the last one. I wonder if that makes it a sundress, though? Day dresses don't usually have buttoned backs, do they?
Maggiethespy, I love that camisole pattern of yours! I've wanted to make a...
Snow White (1937) wears lovely makeup. Look how her cheeks are rouged!
Laura Chase, did you get around to trying out the 1930s techniques? If you do, please post pics! You're so clever with makeups. :)
I didn't notice until now how much that girl on the right looks like Ronnie Spector. That look is so bad-ass! lol I suppose latinas with huge hair wasn't a 1960s invention.
LaMedicine, thank you so much for you insight. It was a very interesting read :) And don't worry, I suspected it might be a Western watered-down version because of the label in English, but I still love it to bits! Makes me feel very glamourous.Cherrylips, if you behave I may let you try it on...
I need your help on this as I haven't got a clue about kimonos. I got this beautiful vintage kimono for what I think is a bargain price (they usually run around 400 USD in retail here!), but what I'm wondering is how vintage it is. According to the seller it could be from the 1940s. I have a...
Thanks for the tips on working with silk. :) I think I'm going to practise on the most slippery viscose/rayon (same thing, right?) I can find, and if it goes well then move on to silk.
Laura Chase, yes those were the pictures I was thinking of! I love that Gerda Wegener drawing too.
Artful dodgette, thanks for the hints. I also found this Revlon product, Lash Jewels. It does seem to be targeted at Bratz doll teenagers, though. But maybe it would work if it's possible to...
