Tuppence, I do my own repairs - if its not beyond me.
The lamps should be pretty straight forward, just a rewire, and possibly new sockets I guess. I'd recommend a good radio restoration place.
The fan may be a little more compicated if the motor is bad and needs to be rewound or replaced...
I remember back in the 70's, the American Graffitti soundtrack was the last word in good music. Anyone that had all three double albums, well, they had a serious collection!
Then I discovered 'Hound Dogs Bop Shop' in West Melbourne and my eyes really opened! The number of times I staggered...
Which, I guess, is why 'The Producers' is such a funny film, and understandable that they backed off the swastika's when advertising the remake in parts of Europe.
Seemed like just about every grown up male had a bag like this when I was growing up in the early 60's.
It was not uncommon to hear someone say "Miss Gladstone, queen of the bags!" when referring to an unattractive woman.
I wonder the origins of the phrase, film, radio or TV?
Hate to ask a technical question,
is Chez Binkie's switchboard fitted with an 'Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker'? These are designed to detect if the insulation inside any appliances is dodgy, and electricity is leaking to earth, or to the metal frame of said vintage appliance.
Burning down la...
Boy, am I looking forward to this!
As a lifelong aviation tragic and former pilot I find this a fascinating story. I have read numerous accounts from pilots critical of her skill and that she was unprepared, but I'm not sure how fair they are. One thing is for certain - plenty of guts. Lots...

Going to the footy but?
Lets go to dinner but
It might have been a regional thing but.
Used to drive me crazy but.
Italy is not known for a reliable postal service, and I'm not sure its valued culturally either.
Years ago (80's) there was a protracted postal strike in Italy. The backlog of mail was deemed undeliverable due to its size, so it was burned instead.
Can you imagine that?
I work in an office with some very staid and proper women, and some women with very bawdy senses of humor.
Men would never get away with some of the things that are said. It can be a minefield at times......
A compilation MP3 disk with favourites and some new stuff - all vintage. I have vintage commercials in there as well, so when it runs on shuffle I can fool myself into thinking its an old time radio program.
I'm currently digging 'Backup' by Eddie Chamblee.

Years later
and I'm still trying to figure out if 'fershlugginer' is a real word.
I seem to recall the really old mags were in a pocketbook size. This was in the early 60's and was a hand down from my parents. Can anyone enlighten me?
