Ray,
Ditto to the others, the Lord Elgin was the premium end of the Elgin Watch Company's offering.
Do a search on ebay, they pop up fairly often. Nice watches, but nothing will replace the sentimental value. Sorry you missed out.

Not the film, the place. I'm a fan of James Lileks and fall by his site from time to time.
Nice piece on Fargo, North Dacotah, then and now. Thought I'd share. Mods if this is a duplicate please delete with my apologies.

Johnnie, bad news about the Predicta's. I can only guess at thier fate:( .
Radio case came up nicely. Looks like your skills are developing. What are you using on the Bakelite to bring it up? I have had good results with Brasso for what its worth.
Does the impedance of these speakers vary...
No one has mentioned the good old chip buttie. Not really odd food combo, but nice.
Chips beween two slices of bread with thick salty butter.
Potato cakes or french fries will do in a pinch, but must be warm to melt the butter.

That is, when you're tired of your hot rod:rolleyes:

Analog TV is being shut off in the US this weekend -...
I noticed my first Golden Arches in Melbourne around 73'. Before then it was strictly the local fish shop for chips, burgers, or chiko rolls. What ever happened to pickled onions?
Meat pies and pasties were a very popular lunchtime fast food. Still today, nothing beats a meat pie from a hot...
I'm wondering when jeep will chime in. I go green when he posts his Omega's...
I don't have an everyday watch, I like to cycle through them so they stay fresh and I enjoy them more. For business travel I wear a waterproof and automatic Mido Ocean Star, but otherwise it's whatever takes my...
Ripple soles....
...give the ants a chance!
I loved my ripple sole DB's, but they could get a bit slippery sometimes.
DB's are pretty soft. I hope your Vibram soles aren't too stiff.
Ditto on the Hills Hoist
My house was built in 47' and it has the original Hills Hoist. Works well - the dryer never gets used.
The early ones just raise and lower. Later ones folded to use less space when not in use. Of course, its also worth keeping in mind that we have no ordnances down...
