I've owned Federations and a Campdraft. Both are equally excellent hats for the rain. It's all a matter of style preference. I ultimately sold my Campdraft because I didn't like the thin ribbon. The brims on both are wide enough for plenty of protection, but not so wide that they look silly...
I have improvised 2 solutions so far. My first was basically a cardboard ring secured to a flat cardboard base. I kept that on my seat and put the hat in it crown down, just like the inside of a hat box.
However, since extra passengers and lots of cargo have become more frequent, I really...
That might explain some of it. Maybe it's a higher level with the same block shape. I ordered mine off his website; no leather sweat (didn't expect one), and no real bow. I love it's simplicity, though, and toyed with ordering another... until I saw yours. :D Thanks.
I wouldn't say I'd wear a fedora with anything under any circumstance, but I think it's mainly a matter of how you're comfortable. I mean, I'm now willing to dress much more casually with a fedora than a couple of years ago. But I have my own rules that serve me well. I have to have some sort...
I don't think anyone meant to put words in your mouth, my friend. I think there are just a lot guys around here who have trouble imagining what could make a cap worth that much.
Jazz, she's lovely. Gotta love that lightweight felt! It's really great for the Whippet clone, which I got in the pecan felt. I'm still working on a way to make mine more practical (I heat up too fast to wear it in summer, and it's not warm enough for Pennsylvania winters). If I can figure...
Trousers were worn a bit higher in earlier decades. It was part of the fashion. I'm starting to see a bit of that coming around again, but it's not widely seen today.
It's as if millions of wallets suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.
No cap would ever be nice enough for me to drop 3-digits on. *yucky*
The block shape and dimensions look like an old Whippet, but I don't see a brim binding and the ribbon is too thin. I can't think what it might be, but I doubt you'll find a factory made modern equivalent. The Stetson Nostalgia might be the closest you could get.
If price is not an issue, I...
Oh, let's see... That would be a 2 5/8 inch brim, a crown that started at about 5 3/4 inches open, I think. It's a dark olive ribbon, with what looks like a very light (almost white) green color slash in the bow.
As for what hat makes the next crawl... that will depend on the weather! lol...
A couple of new lids to add to the fray;
1. My newest VS: The Toreador. I have become enamored with black hats as of late, and I wanted something different. I knew Art would have the good sense to know if I was sane, and the ribbon collection to do the job right. The fabulous result...
Time to add my latest VS, which I have named the Toreador (for no good reason - it just hit me).
This collection includes more angles;

I wanted a black hat that wasn't your everyday black-on-black, but also wanted to...
