That's a very interesting crease. It reminds me of a detail I've seen on late 60's cars, stereos, and even furniture. In a good way, that it. Maybe you should name it after a cool car of the mid-century?
Possibly. Depends on how sensitive you are to heat. But removing a liner can add a few degrees of comfort. The biggest difference will be if the liner has a plastic cap. I take my liiners out carefully so that I can tuck them back in with ease for winter use.
I'm a big guy, and I mean horizontally. In other words, I am fat, portly, chubby, whatever. I have read many times that guys like me should not wear double breasted suits or jackets, but I have to say, I could not disagree more.
Sure any man should understand that clothing styles and cuts...
I would not recommend leather for any season. It's too hot in summer and too cold in winter. And just plain heavy all the time. :(
For summer, look for linen or cotton caps, or straw fedoras. Avoid anything with a leather sweatband if you plan to leave it in the hot car during...
I highly recommend http://www.hatpeople.com/cuts/tourcut.html
and http://www.hannahats.com/caps-page.html
Both are made to measure, not off-the-rack.
The Hat People ones have various cuts and are very soft and floppy. They can also do materials other than tweed (wool, linen, etc).
The...
I wasn't sure if I should put this into the big Crusher thread, given that it's a different and very specific sub-topic. Plus, it might get buried.
Anyhow, I have a vintage cotton twill tan officers visor cap. I was wondering if anyone had any safe suggestions for cleaning the twill part. :o

Thank you Bill.
I have experimented with quite a few. Lower grade panamas breathe better, I find. I also like milan weaves because it's not as tight as most panama weaves. In the end, my favorites have been Dobbs milans (which I usually get from...
The lightest weight felt I have encountered is Art's. Also, he might consider punching vent holes in the felt.
I have, on rare occasion, worn felt in summer. The most comfortable (best first) are;
Art Fawcett's, Optimo lightweight, and Herbert Johnson. Now, the HJ's can be very expensive...
I think the color transfer is the main issue, as RBH says. Also, if bristled fall off on a similar colored hat, they will be less noticeable. That was the one thing I noticed back when I was improvising with a clean paintbrush. The dark bristles were very easy to see on my tan hats when they...
In his defense, it took considerable pounding for him to get any of his actual questions answered about replicas. Lots of info, but not what he wanted. I had the same experience. I gave up and decided the only way to be sure was to get an authentic cap (in so-so condition in order to fit in...
Some stories I've read about replicas have mentioned having to actually crush the caps even after removing the stiffener, which make me wonder how accurate these things can really be, or if there is a miscommunication of terms. The real one I have has no means of holding it's shape once the...
I'm thinking this cap already had a sweat replaced a long time ago, plus a restitch. My main concern is two holes in the top caused by the interior plate.
My newly acquired visor cap (not the soft billed true crusher). It could use a little minor repair, but it suits my needs and I am happy.
