Don't do it, man! I have learned the hard way that the measurement front-to-back and side-to-side are meaningless. My very first vintage hat should have fit me very well, but turned out to be about 4 sizes too small. The measurements were right, but it didn't matter. This is why I hate...
Got mine, at last! It's Last Crusade, and a style I have wanted for a long time. For various reasons, I put it off a long time. But here it is!
And a mess more pictures for those who like every angle! ;)

I have to second rmrdaddy's support for Oscar and South Street hats. I wish I lived closer to Philly. Actually, no I don't. I'd be debt over my head!!! lol
Hats always look better on somebody's head. I'm sure it will be much nicer than that lonely, static, blah, picture. I like the hat myself, but I need more brim. :(
You could go to Stetson's website and try contacting them about finding the hat. I have only found one vendor that carries it.

I just got something new from Dobbs. It's a milan straw, but a little softer than most of what's out there now. The sweatband is not leather, but otherwise a nice hat. Oh, and the listed brim is 2 1/4, but the one I have in hand is 2 1/2...
I was in Target today, looking for a few things, and stopped to poke around their hat selection. You know the ones... cheap stingy brims made of cotton or paper straw and all that.
So, I'm trying on a few (I need a new straw for those "it might get ruined" days), and feeling somehow dirty as...
A wind cord is a snip away from gone, if need be. However, the image may be inaccurate. I have found many on-line store that change the colors of photos with a computer for visual sampling purposes, rather than actually taking a picture of every color. The wind cord may have been problematic...
It's sad, but I now expect to have to re-attach at least one button on every shirt, jacket, and coat I buy within a year. I remember stuff my father owned that never needed button repair.
I've been debating that one for those hot and rainy summer days. I tried the Riverina, or whatever it's called, but it was just too much hat. I looked like Juan Valdez looking for his burrow.
Do you have any shots of the Joe on your noggin, cardelo?
That has always been my impression. I found it odd to see a guy wandering about the city dressed like he was going hunting, but I figured it was symbolic of Holmes always, in a way, being "on the hunt." [huh]
You are somewhat correct, in that Indy ditches the hat not only while in disguise, but for the end of Raiders. But since we would have to believe that he kept it somehow while being dragged through the sea on the periscope of a submarine, we should forgive that.
Yes, the Washington hat is...
My favorite hat is Mojave tan with an auburn ribbon. However, I have nightmares about such a light hat blowing off my head and into a mud puddle. With all the rain I get, it is not my most worn hat.
I find that good ol' basic brown is what gets the most use. It goes with a lot, it's dark...
From a realistic POV, Indy probably went through a lot of hats in his time. But from the angle of cinematic icons and Hollywood magic, the implication is that Indy has had the same hat since that fateful day as a kid. And I think that movie magic implication is born out of how iconic that hat...
