I need to thin my collection down so I can buy more hides and make more jackets. I'm selling off most of my production (as in not made by me) stuff. I have two auctions on OFAS (seller name slkflys2) but I also have a few I don't want to run through the bother. I'm 6', 195 lbs for reference...
Probably- I'd never heard of them before but looking at the current website http://www.smwholesale.com/ they don't offer a B-10 anymore. Nice looking tanker jacket though. Going to be a tough decision this winter: B-10 or B-3? I supect the B-10 will probably win out most days...

That looks terrific! Perfect example of what the correct cut will do for a jacket. Between the B-10's Irvins, and Goodwears you are pretty well set...

Aero VS S.M. Coat Company
Here's some comparison shots of the two jackets:
Aero on top:
Material differences- the Aero almost has a flannel feel to it, the S.M. has a more realistic outershell. Aero on top again:
Liner- Aero has the S.M. beat. The Aero liner has the right weight...
Picked this up this weekend at a militaria show- It's a replica from the late '90's made by S.M. Coat Company Inc. Sized a 42, but it fits like a 44. It has several inaccuracies and the fit is a bit too puffy, but overall this was a great find. I also have an Aero B-10 test jacket and the new...
I wish that Eastman was mine! Was just trying it on...
For a jacket that you can actually wear a B-6 or D-1 is perfect. The fleece is cut to 1/4 inch making them true 3-season jackets (as long as it stays below 50 F). the B-3 is great, but I'm not going to be able to wear it until the temp...
Nice- I need to get a D-1 or B-6, just to round out my complete AAF flight gear wear...
What are you using for your pattern? BTW I know I've said this before, but as someone who has actually tried to sew this stuff my admiration for what you have done with that B-3 you made is off the...
See, I don't have the patience for that, not with this big industrial sewing machine I have sitting in the back bedroom. Shearling is pretty easy to punch through, but the extra bulk and elasticity made it very difficult for me to maneuver around the sewing machine without causing too much drag...
I finished modding my B-3 last night. Changes include:
Removing and re-attaching the cuffs properly
Removing, shortening, and re-attaching the zippers authentically
Making the jacket body almost 4 inches shorter
Adding the square reinforcements at the bottom of the zippers
Adding the...
I won a B-3 last year by accident on OFAS (forgot to withdraw the bid). It's a US Authentic, nice enough jacket, but has several of the details wrong. Cuffs, jacket length, zipper and pocket placement, straps and buckles, etc. I figured it would be an easy fix, since I had the machine and the...
Just make sure they use the same color, weight of thread and stitch length. it will litereally take longer to set the machine up than to run the stitch.

Don't be shy, send another or call- he's pretty good about answering the phone between 9-6 pacific time. If you call, be prepared to talk jackets for a while...

Great Jacket! Love the patches:eusa_clap Lets see some pics of you wearing the thing, that's what really matters...
The knits will loosen up, and they will last- and for the money I think they are the best deal available in the US, the historical knits are what I have been using on several...
It's cowhide- one of Chapmans' early test jackets.
I have already put it through the wringer in about a million different ways- washed, dried, taken to Europe, worked on cars, etc. This one was always a little big on me, wish I had taken the sides in and shortened the sleeves a year ago...
Being one of those guys who can't just leave well enough alone I decided to modify my pre-production Goodwear Dubow. I have always liked the darker seal jackets, and there was a Dubow contract in that color. I used Feibings dark brown dye (3 coats, 4 bottles) and re-tailored the jacket at the...
That drafting table was a great find- got it at a garage sale at a townhome of all places. I use it as my main workspace and have absolutely refused to get rid of it through three moves.

I was an aircraft mechanic for most of my life- I like airplanes...
The table for the Singer is a standard industrial table- very heavy with a built in clutch motor and pedal. You could fit several different machine heads in it.
The Necchi is my favorite for non-jacket stuff, I get a lot...
