I had never heard "The Box" so I just listened to it. That one really hit home too. When my dad died I found a small wooden box in his dresser drawer and in it was his dog tags, an old faded picture of a P-47 Thunderbolt, a pamphlet given to all the American soldiers before they invaded Okinawa...
Scottyrocks,
I was having the same problems with Photobucket last week. I sent them an email and they said there were some issues with the website but they had been corrected. They recommended I clear my internet cache and cookies. I did and it has worked fine since. If you are using MS...
In one of the pictures you can see the tag on the inside. It is a Stetson Ashland and is 100% fur felt. What kind of fur I don't know but probably a lot of rabbit. Nice looking hat. Here is one new.

This is what I'm looking for. I sold this last year because it was a little too tight. It was in such nice shape I didn't want to risk damaging it by stretching it. It was a beautiful hat and was actually a Canadian Stetson.
Daniel,
That is a cool looking hat but is more of a bowler and I'm looking for a homburg with a soft top and a center dent crease. Something like a black Stetson St. Regis. Thanks though. I hope you are doing well.
Guy Clark's song "Randall Knife" really hits home with me because my father was a WWII vet also. If you don't know what a Randall Knife is then do a Wikipedia search for "Randall Made Knives". After that listen to the song below.

PS: Speaking of songs...
Johnny DJ,
Sorry about your loss but you'll find something else you like. Also, you might have lost by more than that but you just don't know it. The winner's max bid could have been more but that was all he needed to win.
I was told by Hatsdirect it had to do with the old hat blocks they use to make each model. The Fed IV hat blocks tend to run smaller than the Campdraft hat blocks. That is why I wear a 59 in a Campdraft and a 60 in a Fed IV. I don't know about the other models Akubra makes.
Jeff,
I'd definitely be interested. You can email the pics to me at the address below.
If anybody else has one they can also use this email address for pictures.
Thanks,
Mike

If anybody has a nice, vintage, black homburg in size 7 3/8 long oval or 7 1/2 that you might be interested in trading or selling let me know. I had a very nice black Stetson St. Regis that I sold last year and now I'm regretting it. Thanks.
Nick,
That is a very nice looking Open Road. It looks like it has some wear on the cattleman's crease. If you reshape it into a teardrop crease those wear marks are hard to get rid of and will show on the teardrop crease. I just wanted to warn you so you won't be disappointed after having it...
Yes, he used to sell under another name that I can't remember. He usually had some nice hats but his prices were always very high. I made him a decent offer (that wasn't too far off from his asking price) on one of his hats that was declined and it sat there for 3 or 4 months. I finally quit...
I received a very nice compliment yesterday I thought I'd report. My mother is 85 years old and can't drive anymore so whenever she needs to go somewhere I will take her. Every so often I take her to the beauty parlor to get her hair done. This is a big outing for her and she really looks...
Thanks Manfred!
Yours is obviously a much nicer hat than the one I posted. Yours is a 7X and has the giftee's name in it. The exact same liner though. Apparently they used that liner for quite awhile. The unusual thing about the liner is it has Johnson City on it which is a nearby town...
Those are both great looking hats but the silverbelly is really nice. When I first saw it, Richard's reminded me of a Stetson Stratoliner. That wouldn't be period correct for the show but the color and dimensions look like some I've seen.
Javier,
Boardwalk Empire is a hat junkies dream. I get so caught up at looking at the hats I have to rewind the show to catch up on what is happening. I wonder if those hats are vintage or if somebody is making them for the show.
"Psychotic" is putting it mildly for Canavale's character...
