Thanks. If you do find another Chesterfield hat I'd love to see it. To me, the logo and brand name seem more appropriate for a different style of hat rather than a western hat.
Welcome to the forum.
I'm from San Antonio and have spent a lot of time in Laredo too but have never heard of that manufacturer. Since it is from Laredo it could be a hat made in Mexico at a maquiladora and labeled Texas Hats. Are there any stickers or markings behind the sweatband? If there...
Thanks for the info. I have a Riverina and I don't think that is what this is. I'll get mine out and take a closer look though. Whatever it is it looks like a nice one. Do you think it came open crown originally or is that a factory bash on it?
Blackthorn,
That's a neat one. Is that brim bound? In the first picture it looks like it might be. Could just be a shadow. Any idea what model this is?
Thanks
My favorite vintage hats would be Stetsons. I'm attracted to them because my paternal grandfather always wore a Stetson. Not a western Stetson but usually something like a Whippet or a Stratoliner. He was a WWI vet, fair skinned and bald. I have very few memories or pictures of him without a hat...
I have never owned or even touched an Optimo hat so I can't comment on their quality or service. I do own quite a few hats made by Vintage Silhouettes. Art Fawcett is a pleasure to work with and his hats are truly amazing. I can call Art and discuss a hat with him and have it in hand in a matter...
Enrique,
You will be very pleased with a Campdraft and Hatsdirect ships very quickly. Mine have always arrived in 10 days or less.
The front brim on mine is down in that photo but it easily snaps back up for a more traditional Open Road look.
I have several Campdrafts in different colors with a Cattleman's crease. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures but I will take some tonight when I get home.
The Campdraft takes a Cattleman's crease very well. It is essentially the same dimensions as an Open Road but the brim is a tad longer...
Rogera,
Looks like it cleaned up nicely. For some reason the ribbons don't clean up as nicely as the felt. At least that has been my experience. On one of my old Open Roads that I gave a naptha bath I took the ribbon off and bathed the hat again and then put a new ribbon on it. A nice...
Most all of my Campdrafts require a little steam for the front brim to stay down when they are new. After I wear them awhile the brim can easily be snapped up and down. However, mine usually stay down all the time.
On another topic, I really like this shorter brim version of the Campdraft. I...
Eric,
I haven't been around the Lounge much lately so I'm just now seeing this. I want to wish you and your wife all the best. I look forward to seeing you post more pictures of your beautiful hats in the near future.
Take care,
Mike
