Thanks for the heads up. I didn't notice the comment about the fabric softener causing a stain before I used the fabric softener sheet and actually put it on the top of the crown. Maybe I got lucky but it didn't cause any stain. Also, maybe they were referring to the powdered form of fabric...
I know it has been awhile since anybody posted to this thread but I thought I would give it a bump.
I recently bought an old hat that had a very strong cigar smoke odor. I did the newspaper trick on it and it did a pretty good job. The smell was still a little noticeable so I threw a "Bounce"...
Falonofthetower,
Akubra and any of the custom hatters already suggested are good options. I noticed you are in Texas, if you are anywhere near Lockhart, Texas then you might want to stop into Texas Hatters. I'm sure they could help you out. Just take that picture with you.
Broccoli,
Like Sam, I had a modern Stetson Stratoliner from Hatco that did that after a few rain drops. The hat wasn't completely soaked but was just hit with a few drops. I steamed it and gave it a good brushing and it helped a little but was still noticeable. Since the felt swelled only...
Just to give a little update. After a week and no responses to my messages I filed a non-paying buyer case with Ebay. They immediately paid but still haven't responded to my messages. I don't know if they will but I guess if they want to they can give me a negative feedback after they receive...
I have never run into that problem myself. After I bash mine though I will take a ruler or something thin and tuck the liner into the creases of the bash to hold the liner up into the top of the crown. Also, on a couple of my Campdrafts that I wear during the hot months I have completely removed...
Rag and Bone Man,
Great hat and a great job on the bash! If the bash is the way you want it then hit it with a little steam. That will help hold the bash. I hope you enjoy the hat. A Campdraft is a great hat.
Great looking hat Preacher Man!
I just realized I still need to post some pics of the last hat Tim made for me. I'll try to post a few later when I get home. Sorry I haven't already done it but I have been crazy busy lately.
Randall,
Their feedback is a 100% with around 1300 transactions. The weird thing is their feedback is hidden. You can only see the totals but not what was said or the items. I've never seen that before and it seemed strange to me. It actually sent up a little red flag in my mind.
Thanks. I'm not too concerned about not being paid because I still have the item but I don't want them to get away with it or do it to somebody else. I also don't want to rush to judgement either. I'd hate to file a complaint and they had some medical issue or emergency that prevented them from...
Has anybody ever had to file a non-payment complaint against a buyer? It has been 3 days since the auction ended and I have not received payment or a response to any of my messages. I plan on giving them some more time but it's starting to look like they are not going to pay. I have been on Ebay...
Dusty Hill's hat was made for him when he did a cameo appearance on the HBO series Deadwood. It was stolen and then returned. Here is some info on it.

Hey guys, I just want to report that I received another hat from Tim and it is beautiful! I haven't had time to take any pictures of it because I'm on the road working right now. Maybe Tim has a few he can post and I'll post mine when I get home.
Here are the basics of it. It is a natural...
I prefer the brim down on my hats. A hat doesn't feel right to me if I can't see the brim :)
Here is one of my old Open Roads with a cattleman's crease.
