Mike, J frames have always been one of my favorites and that is a beautiful one. I'm assuming that is a Model 36 so I tried looking up that serial number for you but I don't see anything starting with "6J". If it is "J6" then here are some ranges. 1977-1978 J610001-J670000 1979-1980...- Landman

Great job on the sweatband. I wish I had the skill and patience to sew a sweatband. That old Nutria would look good with a horse hair band too. You can find some very nice horse hair bands on Ebay. -

I'm not sure what sites you are looking at for an Akubra but a Fed IV from HatsDirect will cost you about $160.00 shipped to your door from Australia. If they have your size in stock you will have it in about 10 days instead of 3 months. That is about $60.00 more than you wanted to pay but well... -
Akubra Campdraft
Enrique, Steam certainly won't hurt a Campdraft. Just make sure you don't get it too close to the heat source. You don't want to heat the felt but just let the felt absorb the moisture from the steam. Don't apply any steam to the sweatband because that could cause shrinkage to the leather... -

I'm pretty sure that Stetson box doesn't belong with that hat. Looks like a nice hat though.
