This is the Lounge at it's quirky best-history,education,laughs,good people
simply enjoying life thoroughly. Thank you, M. Key, and thanks, folks.
ps-hat's great!
we're getting close now, I can tell...
Listen: all year, all ya hear is traffic noise, kids wailiing, bad music of every description, hollering and cussin' in every language, sirens, mysterious creaks,
people calling your name when you're going the other way...take a load off,
mac! put yer...
Found a terrific one in deep, deep blood red, almost too soft to conform, but able to after a tussle; Borsalino, and went to my wife; being so soft and
"slouchy", it looks great on a woman. I was allowed to clean it. After I bought it through a dogfight at auction. Now that she knows how to...
Great hat! and fine work with renovation; I'd like to see more involved photos
of this hat in particular, and for a specific reason: the pricing of "big name" hats is going through the roof (again), and we are now looking at the second strata of hats fo fill the gap left by Borsalino, Stetson...
I wasn't being too much of a wiseguy when I asked about convertables; it's true, they did adjust the windshield for optimum windflow at speed, and if your did your homework, you got the one that you could have the windows rolled up, top down, and your hair didn't get mussed, never mind the hats...
Not a Fed., but some Western hats- how do you soften them up so that
when you try to convert them into fedoras, they'll have some of the pliability that on would expect? any hatters out there willing to divulge the secret?
Brad- thanks for the honest and quite telling review; I see that you've opened more than a few eyes to the difference between a custom hat
and one off the shelf. I've had several older Cavanagh's. liked them very much, the finish was fine. This re-start could be the finish once again for...
Jerekson!! come to your senses, man!! "peeling the duck" ?? fastening him to your hat and parading around happy as a lark enough?
Now you're going to "peel the duck"?? Oh...the horror...the horror.
Anyone think about the real meaning of duck tape? I mean, did you ever try
to tape up a duck? And why would you in the first place?
And I don't get this taping a duck to a hat. Gotta be one ornery duck, man.
Strange stuff. I dunno...[huh]
Art, take care of yourself and your wife, please be careful clearing that
mess. had to do a minor version once. fellas-Art needs all the support he can get...
How about the oddest item each member has in their household that most represents their quirky nature? Can be a set of things, but they all have to go to a single purpose, and can be bought, stolen, borrowed, handmade, preferrably with some age.
Thats idea # 1.
How about the oddest...
GREAT FUN, VB!! and a great job done by all. Came across this thread and
very glad I did, made the Holiday blues go away quick like!
thanks-and can you do it next year?? m
Good Taste!! Personally like 7 & 8 , and I think you're well on your way to
a very nice collection, worthy already of note. You could teach us a thing
or two about sizing & hats, you seem acutely aware of what's just a hair
long/short...good eye ( even though the re-eye in the photos is a...
try using stiff foam, you can find it in blocks, used in shipping appliances, etc., and carve them with an exacto or bigger blade, then tape them to the block- might work.
PS what Nikon are you shooting with? looking for a new camera, and have my eyes on a Nikon, fishing for feedback. thanks
I had a friend who used $5. & $10. bills as shims for his one loose hat;
I thought he was a bit looney-and then he made sense by saying" I'm
never without some cash, in the case of an emergency, and even if I
simply want to buy somethinng unexpectedly (big collector), I can always
get it...
