Having messed up a few Aero orders despite living almost within spitting distance, I would definitely recommend the fit jacket from Insurrection. I'm sure at least one other on here down your way has done that.
Just don't rush it, take your time and be exactly sure of the fit you want after...
Here's the battered brown FQHH. I like it, and it seems to have darker marks over the brown to give it a bit of character. It hasn't had as rough treatment as my other jackets, so I don't know how it copes with scuffs and scratches.
It's a slippery slope, Nick. I started off by buying one quality pair, then I read that you shouldn't wear them two days in a row, so I bought another quality pair to alternate and therefore always wear quality footwear.
12 quality pairs later, my wife thinks I have a problem...:o
Never relined, but rather than reline for warmth I'd just keep the nice lining and wear a thin layer for flexibility.
Other than slightly reduced flexibility and more money, I can't think of any cons.
Everyone says they run a size large, but I got my usual 10UK for two pairs and they're maybe a bit roomy, but I wear a thin insole as there's virtually no padding inside.
I would say they're quite narrow, so I wouldn't go down more than half a size.
Interesting about Solovair and Aero, as they look so Lennon-like.
As for Frye, my wife has a couple of pairs and they're very good value for money at US prices, and from Amazon in the UK. It's really hard to get good solid women's footwear, no matter how much you spend, and Frye and Tricker's...
Thanks for the very kind offer, as most companies wouldn't make that effort, but I don't want to lose my slot in the production line, so I'll pass this time.
It looks like the orders are piling in now, so well done on that and good luck for how it all works out.
Almost pulled the trigger on the waxed canvas Trucker on an impulse buy as it's so cheap on the offer, then a postage cost of $49 made me holster my weapon. It's now priced by weight, so it hits the Trucker bad.
I'll wait and see how the 4 things already on order turn out, then will...
So far I'm in for the 18.5oz jeans, Moto vest, 7oz Pendleton shirt and a 24oz shirt. I'm dithering over a waxed trucker and just can't decide if I can justify it, although the 50% off is incredibly tempting. It would be good to see how things fit before plunging further.
Ok, I admit to being an Aero fanboy, but I have good reason, for a number of reasons, but here's my tuppence worth anyway. Discount it if you want.
I have 4 FQHHs which, on checking, all have these collar/neck creases when lying flat. They've never been on hangers. I'd never even noticed...
I have three belts from http://www.equusleather.co.uk/index.php/belts/bridle-leather-belts.html and am very happy with them. They're much stiffer than store belts and you have a wide range of buckles and colours.
Maybe we're on to something. My jackets are usually squashed in a too-narrow box under the bed and when they come out there's no problem. Just mild creases that soon go. But my relatively lightweight Wool HB had more damage than any, purely because of the hanger.
It could only be worse...
Could be. I store all my jackets flat except my Wool HB with the FQHH shoulders. That's been on a wide hanger for months and when I took it off the other day it had big creases on the shoulders, not unlike Schitzo's. They mostly disappeared when worn, though, as I think Schitzo said.
Schitzo, call me sad, but I really enjoyed that video and would like to see more like it.
As for the back creases, I was expecting much worse and am just not seeing the problem. I'm pretty sure I've had worse and just took it as part of the break-in. In my view, FQHH is meant to look...
I'm hoping some good materials come up today. I have 4 things on order, but will see what's new before buying more.
The 50% offer is simply too good to miss, even with customs charges. And the good thing is that reviews seem very positive.
Edward, I think the grabby cotton lining is a thing of the past. I had that and didn't like it, but they've gone for smoother cotton now and your arms slide in easily. I wouldn't do satin.
