I've been looking at the battered hide used for the August jacket on Aero's website. Does anyone have pics of this hide on this or any other pattern? Would it suit a Teamster?

WDW has a Shackleton that he bought awhile back, and you might be able to launch a search on the FL and maybe PM him for impressions. There are multiple images on a Google search as well. My Teamster is brown FQHH with moleskin body shell lining and cotton drill sleeves but see no reason why battered HH would not work equally as well.

Battered hh is, I believe, the same ghing they used to call vintage fqhh... same hide, just a littld bit broken in. Some folks like indigo they can wear in themselves, some like stonewashed....

Sloan, you work for Aero, right? If you don't, I think they should start paying you.

I live just up the road, I've seen and handled the stuff, so I can say what it's actually like. I'm neither here nor on the battered HH, tbh, I prefer the more even-colour hides, but horses for courses.

That's a way of getting paid. You'll never have to sell for a loss, because you get to try everything on in person! What a life.

*I mean, you'll take a hit regardless if you decide to pass the jacket on, so disregard that, but no sizing issues? That's truly the life of riley.

It's the thing that keeps me away from Good Wear, trying to get those measurements right would kill me, but Jeff M's Monarch still keeps me working through JC's list of contracts...

no no he doesn't work for them. He just appears on every single aero thread ever posted to remind us all what a great deal they offer. And if ever anyone isn't completely happy he's there in a flash too to either rubbish the thread, derail it somehow, or basically distract from the issue at hand (assuming it's genuine) in any way he possibly can. But he absolutely definitely does not work for aero and I hope that's clear.

Re the battered tans, I believe there are 2. IMO the one on the August looks quite good. The other one - and I've forgotten where to find the picture now, but I think there is one of a jacket in it on the site as one of the back up pics for one of the newer models - I suspect could be a bit of a disappointment in real life. Which FWIW is my take on the vintaged hides too.

How about a teamster in goatskin?

And yet he's supplied the best info on this thread pertaining to the OP's question.

....And you seem to find it your duty to chase him around the forum with such distain as if to always alert everyone that anything 'Aero' related or Sloan stated is to be suspect and certainly any members who would regularly dare seem to be fans of these jackets are surely simply just shills. Your idea of a thread being derailed is anyone who posts objections to your tactics are the trouble makers. If you can direct this thread into being locked and hopefully successfully blame it on everyone else..then schitzo has succeeded again.

that's a subjective judgement, and one that would surely be better coming from the OP, not you

please HD, spare us the commentaries and psychological profiling. I can assure you you do not know what I think nor would it appear are you equipped to understand that process. There is no need for you to get excited, relax. This thread is not on course to be closed down because nobody is here to criticise aero, so I think we're safe. This is a discussion about battered hides. I have offered my 2 cents on the matter, yet so far it seems like you are here for something else..

A bit of respect for the OP please.

Then explain to the OP why you think battered hide jackets would be a disappointment in person. When YOU saw them in person you were disappointed? You have a link to share of someone who was disappointed? All Sloan did was give a link and a description with NO commentary.

Here's the battered brown FQHH. I like it, and it seems to have darker marks over the brown to give it a bit of character. It hasn't had as rough treatment as my other jackets, so I don't know how it copes with scuffs and scratches.

Let's keep it civil gents!
I think the battered is an interesting option. Like Edward noted: raw finished denim vs stonewashed.
I actually liked some of the oil-pulled hides Aero used to offer.

Two questions for those in the know: Does the battered brown steerhide exhibit as much color variation as the battered brown FQHH (the sample I received seems more uniform in color)? And is the battered steerhide as heavy a hide as the regular CXL steer?
