The Real McCoy leather prices seem beyond crazy when you can get semi-custom from the usual suspects well known to this board.
Would anyone say they're worth the extra?
Thanks for the close up. It looks quite dark for russet. More like my chestnut Irvin, but I prefer that darker co!our. You obviously have good taste in footwear too.
Good looking jacket and great trim fit. Any chance of a real close up of the hide, as it looks interesting? Ideally next to another colour hide for a better comparison.
Looking good, Sloan. It can only get even better.
The LHB was the first Aero I bought, under the old regime, and the fit was all wrong so I flipped it after a month or two and lost a packet. All my jackets from those days came out badly, not that I'm bitter...
Great pics, Dav. Very impressive. It's definitely seen some hammer. And it shows those of us with newer jackets what we can hope for in the years to come.
And thanks for joining in.
Thanks guys. Mendelboaz, I really like the simplicity of the Stockman, which is why I have two now. I have the Work Coat in cordovan too, but it's shorter and narrower, so the Stockman is the better choice for winter. By the way, it hasn't been well cared for at all. I treat it like I hate...
I've been wearing my two Stockmans quite a bit recently because it's winter now, so thought I might as well show a few pics as to how one has aged over the last two years. This is the Cordovan one and I love it like my first born.:) I always feel the longer jackets are underrepresented here...
I'm tempted by this one too, but have a query for Rudie.
What's the pit-pit, back and sleeve lengths on this 42? Also, I thought this jacket was only made in S, M, L etc, yet yours is a 42. Is that a one-off?
Hi there and welcome. I've been down this route, having two Stockmans and having once had a Teamster. The Teamster is very different to the VDR, as it's shorter, neater and has a fancier back. It's not a car coat in my opinion.
The alternatives to the VDR are the Stockman and the Cheyenne...
Sheepdog, I have the Muleskinners and really like them. Only one thing, dont wear them with raw selvedge if the dye is likely to run.
I made that mistake and now I have big stains on the boots I can't get rid of. The rough out leather just soaks the dye in.
Dave, thinking about it, if Aero are OK with your specs, then it will be money well spent, as you'll get the jacket you want, in the fitting you want, and you'll also have the advantage of knowing that their customer service is second to none.
From my own experience, they've sorted out any...
Dave, having been there, the more you specify, the greater the chance of disappointment. If you have the chest sorted now, I'd advise you to just give them your back and sleeve lengths and hope for the best.
I'm no expert, but I think that specifying a shoulder width that doesn't match the...
Shane, we're almost identical size-wise. I'd go for a 38 HWM or if you want something neater go for a 38 or even 40 30s HB.
I think going down two sizes might look a bit odd, unless you lengthen the back and sleeves to compensate a bit.
I had a cordovan steer HWM for a while, and it was definitely heavier and stiffer than my FQHH one. The colour is great, as said so often on this board. Very versatile.
