Che, I think you should be fine too with the 7 1/8. The sweatband and felt on these is softer and conforms to my long oval easier. -

Just so you know, a 59 is a 7 3/8. If a 7 1/8 LO was a little tight and a 7 1/4 felt good then a 7 3/8 is going to be pretty big on you. -

Roger, that Resistol is very cool. That is a great find! I love the ribbon treatment on it and think the cattleman's crease looks great. I'm no Resistol expert but I'd guess it to be an early 1950's. That is definitely an older style liner. -

A measurement of 22 to 23 inches is too general. You need to measure around your head where the hat will sit and get an accurate measurement of up to 1/8 of an inch. You would be amazed at how much difference 1/8 or even 1/16 of an inch can make in sizing a hat. A good hat shop or western wear... -

Because of my work I spend a lot of time outdoors in either a Jeep or Kawasaki Mule. I prefer my hats to fit snug so they don't fly off. I do have some nice vintage hats that fit looser but usually don't wear those in windy situations. I agree with Zombie though and prefer slightly snug over too... -

If they sell western hats then that is your best bet. The style of the hat doesn't matter. It is the size that is important. If a size 7 3/8 Stetson western hat fits you well then you are a size 7 3/8. The hats with more basic sizes like small, medium and large don't really help you. If you are... -

Tommy Gun, You should stop by a hat store and try on a few hats to find your exact size. Also get a soft tape and measure your head. A measurement as small as an eighth of an inch can make a big difference in how well a hat fits you. In my case, I'm a long oval and in between sizes so buying... -
