These are some nice brim cutters. They are very simple to use but they won't really help with turning a regular brim into a dimensional brim since they follow the brim edge. They are great though for just shortening a brim.

John, I think you did a great job of recreating the original bow. I never realized the bow on the original looked like that until you posted those closeup pictures of it.
I think $180.00 is a very fair price for the Campdraft at a brick and mortar store in the USA. If I lived close enough to stop by and try the hat on and look it over for any imperfections then the extra cost would be worth it to me.

Looks like a nice hat but since it is a medium width ribbon I would have preferred a Wanderer style bow instead of the Open Road style bow in the picture.
I have used a soup ladle and even a small curved plastic spatula. Both work great for fixing specific areas. You might want to try inflating a balloon in the crown if you want to fully expand it without removing the sweatband. That's worked pretty good for me the few times I tried it.

I've never really cared for black hats but wearing my new black Premier Stratoliner for awhile I'm starting to appreciate them. I do get a lot of compliments on it.
