@Furrowson, I'd definitely recommend going out of your way to visit Aero, just so that you can get it right first time, but they'll probably be closed for two weeks over Christmas, so check before you go.
As for jackets, the Sheene is very highly regarded as a slim fit, with numerous threads...
@Rudie, I have two pairs of Lennon's with vibram soles and wouldn't dream of hiking in them. They're just big, clumpy boots, and the world has moved on.
IMHO, it's a bit like the occasionally resurfacing Ventile debates. What was once state of the art decades ago has been overtaken by modern...
I'm guessing the OP's going for statement boots rather than sensible hiking ones.
Many years ago the first really good hiking boots I bought (after starting with cheap rubbish) were the old-fashioned Schweizer Gletcherstiefel, made in Switzerland or Germany, with ridiculously stiff leather and...
The NSCs are academic for me now as they're out of my size in the ones that tempt me. Don't know how long a restock will take.
I'm interested to read @Fading Fast's review too.
@GHT, I can't imagine I'd get socks like those for only £5 delivered, but I'd happily pay more.
I just asked for knee-highs in any colour but brown, so who knows what I'll get. My expectations are minimal, so just receiving a wearable pair will be a bonus.
I gave her my contact details so that...
How does NSC compare to SWC, or even OKW, in terms of materials and workmanship?
Is NSC really worth 4 times the price of SWC, or twice the more expensive OKW?
I'm happy with both SWC and the OKW WPs, but am unsure if the relatively large cost leap to NSC is worth it. I'm keen to hear from...
I've sent her £10 cash for a long pair. Hopefully it won't get nicked en route.
I'll report back with the results, but expect it'll be at least 2-3 weeks.
I'm in a remote part of the wild west of Scotland for the weekend and saw this little advert for Harris Wool socks, made in the Hebrides by a real Hebridean, for only £5 (inc. shipping) in the local paper. It's so low tech that it's communication by post only, which I find hugely refreshing in...
I like the sound of the maroon purple, although pics would be helpful.
While I'm on, I have a query about the necks, which hopefully someone might be able to answer. I have two ganseys, with single layer necks which stick up 2 or 3 inches, like a loose polo/roll neck which doesn't fold back...
@Ticklishchap, it's the beige/natural, which works well with anything. I wore my purple v-neck WP today, and that was another good buy at a great price.
On my FQHHs, I've had internal pockets with zips, press studs and open and feel that the open gun pocket is the least obvious, with the zip being the worst.
Depending on the other jacket pocket styles, I'd be inclined to always have a gun pocket, as nothing is likely to fall out or be picked...
I wore my OKW roll neck WP for the first time this Autumn/Fall and must admit it looks good even with a Type 3. It's a very good buy with the discount.
Yeah, most folk say they run large, which they do in my experience too. Having said that, they're a bit long, but not wide, so I think many find going down a size makes them tight, hence the countless tales of breaking-in misery you'll read about.
I have three pairs in my usual UK10/US11, but...
Poor guy. I guess waiting almost 9 months for a pair of boots that didn't fit would drive anyone to take extreme measures to get something decent.
And the massive delay of course took you past Brexit and a 20% or so devaluation of the pound (since around Christmas), so you've been rogered...
Over the last year I've increasingly hit with this when importing from outside the EU, to the point where it's now almost a dead cert that you'll get hit.
I only do it if the purchase price +20% is at least 10% less than the UK price, which it often is, or for items not available in the UK...
That sounds way too much. It should be around 20-25% max of cost including shipping.
I had a similar problem when I was charged£290 extra for a BR N-1 jacket from Japan. I had to pay, but claimed using a standard form and got a £200 or so refund about 2 months later.
@Jkohl, you have the patience of a saint. Be sure and show us the new Attractions when they come. The comparison with the other ones will be interesting.
