I had these made about 3 years ago but haven't worn them more than 15-20 times, and not at all in the last year or so. I found them to be slightly tighter across the instep than my black US11 Boss and Jobmaster boots, maybe because the harness toe makes them a bit narrower, so wear the blacks...
This is the version with the large patch side entry hip pockets and small patch pocket on top of the right hand one. There is also an inner pocket which is large enough for my quite big LG G5 phone.
It's a canvas outer with cotton liner.
In very good condition with no marks or tears, I'm...
Iron Rangers now come with the Vibram 430 sole, so quite an improvement.
As for Tricker's, if you can get a Stowe boot with Vibram-like commando soles, they cover all bases, being smart, casual and practical. These treads have more than twice the thickness of the 430s.
That's very, very nice indeed. I was pleased to see that Aero are moving into the leather jeans jacket scene, as that's what I feel I'm missing at the moment. They seem to have started putting the stitching over the Type 3 pockets now, rather than having patch pockets, which looks a lot...
The idea of putting your name down now to get in the queue seems sensible, if that's allowed.
You could then go asap on your arrival in Scotland and hopefully have it made up during your few days there, as long as your timeslot was scheduled and your leather is available.
Then you get the...
@Mr. Godfrey, that's another film I wasn't aware of. I'd say my smock is closer to the girl's in style, but the army ones look OTT for my needs.
I'm also hoping for a James Bond vibe in OHMSS, my favourite Bond film. I've always liked his smock worn during the Piz Gloria assault, and feel this...
I didn't know of that film, but I like his look, even though he's no Kirk Douglas. I very much like the B&W pics above.
I'm now going to try to order big woollen mits to add to the look. Not sure about trousers, but I quite fancy going full psycho retro hiker if I can get the gear right.
As an update, I've now received my Ventile smock, 6.5 weeks after order. It's a nice, solid, classic bit of kit with a 40s/50s vibe. Nothing fancy, nothing cool, but I like the utter simplicity and robustness of the double layer Ventile. The hood's larger than I expected, coming well over the...
I have to agree with @Sloan1874 regarding the weight issue. I have a couple of 4 or 5 year old FQHH Stockmans, size 38, and whilst they're quite heavy to hold (2.7kg/6lb), whilst wearing them they're barely noticeable.
I don't wear them more than once or twice a week in the cooler months...
I sent a 2.5kg jacket to Europe with Parcelforce. With full insurance to £500, buying online, I paid £76. Big mistake. Even the post office guy said I was stupid to buy online, as you pay the full amount for the weight band, as opposed to actual weight.
This week I did the same using DPD...
