That's gorgeous! Our hats are very similar. Mine doesn't say " Mode Edge" on it anywhere but it has the mode edge. I wonder if they had a discrepancy with Cavanagh at some point?

As to the dating of it. I got this from The Hatted Prof. website. "Cavanagh first put the words "Cavanagh Edge" at the front of the sweatband of their hats starting October 1, 1952." I would guess your was made around that time.
