As per Fastuni's request in the WIWTD thread, here are close ups of the buttons from the teal sportcoat documented in this post. This jacket is a bit of a mystery to me - it seems like a 30's jacket to me, but being bespoke, who really knows. The buttons seem pretty unique.

Very much so. I brought my tailor photos of this pair that thunderw21 sold on Etsy, and he nailed the specs. They are ten inches wide at the ankle, and they drape perfectly. Would recommend without reservation for a suit or odd trousers.
Thanks Metatron...it will be getting a lot of wear this...
Mothballed the summer wardrobe, and brought the fall stuff out - including this '30s bespoke sport coat I hadn't gotten the chance to wear yet. Belted back, bi-swing shoulders, in a nice teal tweed with a rust windowpane. New cream flannels also getting another wear. The hat is a 30's Borso...
Man, those waistcoats are amazing, though I agree, I think the fabric and cut of the first suit is better than the one that knocked the top off the price ceiling. And, as someone with a relatively long inseam, I concur - whenever I see something with trousers that might fit I am all the more...
Dry cleaners are usually reticent to do any heavy duty work on your clothes, because they know you might hold them responsible if they destroy the fabric in the process. Most hard core cleaning methods run a risk to fabrics, especially old ones. That said, if you are willing to take a little...
Could well be - still, I've never seen a vintage pair in such a large size.
Couple similar pairs from Etsy:

Guess I've just gotten lucky. I think I've got 3 RL jackets, and they all button high. But, I'm sure across their line there are a spectrum of stances.
HB3 - I put up more photos of it in the Ralph Lauren thread awhile back...
Thanks HBK - One of the things I like about RL's jackets, across the board, is the high button stance. Even where the trouser rise is frustratingly low, the jackets always button just at the right place. I think that is one of the reasons this belted back has a late 20's vibe. Also the...
<<PARDON CHANDLER-LOVER THREAD DERAIL PLEASE>>
I think you are 100% right. Marlowe has no love for men who don't live up to his standard of manliness - think of the pummeling he gives Carol Lundgren. But I also think that Chandler is very interested in showing that great wealth is the Maltese...
Headed to a neighborhood event, "White Linen Nights" tonight. jacket is RRL belted back, pants are part of the brown collegiate suit whose other pieces can be found in the "Show us your 30's suits" thread. Tie is 20s/30s.
Of course, Marlowe was also inherently suspicious of anyone who wasn't clad in work-a-day blue serge - General Sternwood aside, who he seemed to like a little. But there is no way around the dandyish connotations of a cream wool suit. Case in point:
