Nice! I've noticed that your collar looks a little fuller and more orange than mine...though it is always hard to tell from pictures.
I have been seriously considering trying a little dye on the collar though I don't quite know how to apply it nor what color would give it that perfect shade...
I am closer to a 46 chest and I have a 48. There's definitely not a lot of extra room in here, but I prefer that in my G-1s.
Are you measuring the collar in that back measurement? All my jackets seem to come in around 23in.

Thanks Tex. It really is a great jacket.
I really need to read the spec sometime. The Cockpit G-1 isn't nearly so blousy and maybe you could chime in on how the USWings fits (although they no longer say "mil-spec" but some other crafty language in there like "US Military Issue").
So, that...
You know this got me to thinking (never good).
Out of curiousity, I measured the back length of my 100 Mission (which feels short) and my ELC (which doesn't feel short at all).
Cockpit: 23in +/- 1/4in
ELC: 23in
What I actually think makes the Cockpit feel shorter (as does the Cooper which...
I'd suggest giving Steve a call and seeing what he can do for you. About 2/3 the price of ELC (though ELC makes a nice jacket) and sized to fit.
Drop me a line if you like and I can give you the data dump.

Interesting! It would be nice to see them stick around.
I had one of their older M-422a jackets from the mid '90s. It was not big at all. I can't say for certain if that was peculiar to the 422a. I really think they got bigger over time when they got tired of gentlemen my age returning...
Yes, I was about to point out the same thing sadly.
But for all that, Big J has a fair point. For those who had (and now necessarily have) stock jackets, the G+B line starts venturing into that area where it doesn't really fit like a "historic" G-1. To Tex's point though, if DoD sizing has...
That's an interesting find. Maybe this has been going on longer than I thought. I had always thought that the Coasties I trained with were given the same issue as the rest of us. The jackets appeared to
be identical to ours.
But, considering that staring at another guy's windflap in the ready...
Good to know. Like I said, no surprise, especially with the CG.
I wish all the services bought the signature series for their aviators. Though people here seem to like the Excelled.
The Pharr I've worn and regret trading in my Cooper for. I know some like it as well and as always you've no...
Warhawk, I'd love to hear all your thoughts. There are several interesting issues on the thread that I'd love to hear about; seamed tabs, the Type 440, the whole nine yards.
Being in the biz, anything you could share on the industry in general would be great.
I guess to the point of your...
I tend to agree based on my limited experience with USW. The modern Cockpit G-1 I really need to see again.
I think that this question is really simply about whether USW "supplies" the Coast Guard and in what fashion. For some people, the matter is important just as some people prefer...
Well, I'll say this. What I would really want to see is an actual Guardsman saying that he was given this jacket. When I spoke to G+B about how their jackets seemed to be getting bigger, the head sales manager was very reluctant to come out and say "yes" or "No". I think another Lounger was...
I've been tempted to ask USW myself as this question comes up pretty often.
Let me be clear though, I have no idea if every last Coastie gets a USW jacket these days. I'm fairly sure they didn't when I was in flight school with them, but that was almost 30 years ago.
I'm just saying that one...
Well, I'm pretty sure that was why Peter was asking.
No offense to US Wings, and as I said I could certainly see the CG open purchasing jackets for its aircrews, but I would never, ever take something that a retailer posts on their website as the gospel truth without some corroboration.
The...
I've posted this before and it is entirely my opinion. Squadrons can sometimes use funds for discretionary purposes. My squadron open purchased Bose headsets for each pilot (to be returned when you left the unit). The Blue Angels of course buy all manner of things. But it appears that they...
That's the one I have now. Are you holding out for issue for nostalgic reasons?
I kinda figured that the only difference between the issue Cooper and the Blue label was that label.
Although I'm not certain of that.
