    Miller Stockman catalog has 3X ORs at $15.95 in 1963. I doubt a price tag of $16.50 can conclusively date a 3X OR to 1948 which is the first year of the thin ribbon configuration. All thru the 1950s, 3X were $15 & also known as The Fifteen ala The Twenty Five....

    Questions from a hat newbie

    Just a friendly warning... newspaper ink can run with perspiration. I use white felt squares found in craft stores, inexpensive & can be cut into strips to work around the sweat = no risk of ink or dyes running...HTH
