When it was introduced, it was the top of the line by Stetson or at least can derive that from Victor's 1943 Miller Catalog postings.... BTW, this is before the Open Road was launched as a model name for the thin ribbon version... *note the NEW Stetson 25 Quality* -

I don't & never will do pointed. Roper toe or wide French square to are all I have. The pointiest boots I have are 2 pairs of Super Ropers, 1 by Justin & 1 by Tony Lama. Differences between Akubra squatter and Akubra federation?
I bought a FedIV & sent it to Falcon Park Hats for edge trimming & adding a bound edge. Squatter is a totally different hat as Alexander points out. -

Even if it looks clean, make sure you brush it VERY well before using the spray bottle of distilled water method. You can get some water lines from dust & dirt that don't appear to be there. Also, water soaking thru can give you water marks on the vintage liner as well.... -
What Hatco COULD produce with modern materials and different blocks
As the release to market of the modern HatCo Stetson Stratoliner shows, the hat has dimensions of their "popular" crown profile. The word we got from the Lounger who no longer seems to frequent us or respond to personal emails, is that was from the "marketing dept". I am sure they do market...
