What Makes You Choose One Decade Over Another?

I choose 40's and sometimes early 50's. I love the look of victory rolls, and I love how women during the war still looked great while holding up the homefront. Photos of soldiers reuniting with their wives give me an electric feeling... I suppose it's because I imagine myself and my soldier...

Christy, CherryRed and Audrey Horne, you guys look so original and beautiful :) If my guy were here for Hallowe'en, we were going to do Lana Turner and Johnny Stompanato. Maybe next year...

Dressing for the Holiday / Christmas party season

Beautiful skirt and great makeup skills, Medvssa! :eusa_clap You should wear that skirt way more often. Clothes that are formal to most people are usually semi-formal to me. EDIT: I couldn't find it, but I read somewhere that men in the 1920's and 30's found the slouch at the heel of...

The History/Evolution of Birth Control *Ladies Only*

He wouldn't - but she said "boys" ;) Thanks for that, Paisley. In the late 19th century, societal norms and family dynamics made the husband and wife relationship quite stilted and impersonal. Often, the only sexual activity in their marriage would occur for the purpose of conceiving only; so...

    Vintage eyebrow shapes

Thats kind of what I did :) I drew on the brows the same way. I used to draw my brows on like that every day for nearly 2 years 'cause I had none. It's fun to be dramatic!

It was effective in promoting understanding of the body, which was more knowledge for the bank. Knowledge is power, so you have to try anything, right?

FooFoogal, I say this with all due respect: By reading your posts and profile, I recognize you are a Christian woman. Your views on birth control are obviously shaped by those of the church. I attended Catholic school and was baptized Roman Catholic (though I did not confirm as I have lifelong...

Sometimes in well developed places too - The difference is how safe the drastic measure is. Developing countries unfortunately don't have the safe medical wherewithal to prevent or terminate an accidental pregnancy, so the women either have to absorb it, or risk the consequences. No wonder...

    Best FL-er costumes 2009

I took the precaution of preparing early for handing out treats and the late night haunted house circuit. Not saying I'm the best, but I'm pretty darn proud: I had just finished reading a book about vamps of the 1920's, so Vilma Banky and Theda Bara were my last-minute inspiration. Come...
