1949 Miller-Stockman.....note the number of black hats (and I do not mean Union volunteers from Wisconsin). Apparently you needed a brown and/or a black hat in 49......

A bit late for this thread really......but it does give some interesting historical perspective.....from a 1964 Miller-Stockman. That Frontiersman has one heck of an interesting crease.....
And what the hell did they do to the Longhorn?!?!?!?

Ps we are limiting the posts of this thread to items we actually own rather than "internet finds" or Ebay listings.......
While I always get compliments on my hats this time it was different. I was wearing a "woolsie" Strat clone (Because I can spray that one up with bug spray and not feel bad!) to a fireworks festival. Standing in line for one of those lemonade shake-ups, when the vendor guy, started...
Here is an old wool 1911 that has seen and done a LOT!!!! I should know.....I put the wear on it! This has the machined officers cords....chin strap is ISP issue. Purchased this hat new at a surplus dealer......bottom and top are now two differant colors, and it has my sweat.....my horses...
Here is pretty new production Stratton 1911. I did not touch the nice factory creases on this one, it is also OD but much brighter green hues than the darker brown hues of the other. Also a fur felt, this one came to me NOS and has the modern soft cloth filled sweat rather than the leather. I...
Here is a fairly modern government issue OD fur felt model 1911 made by Stratton sometime in the late 60's I think. All the markings are on the back of the sweat and hard to read, impossible to photograph. Anyway the hat is in great shape with little wear. I tightened up the pinches "Army...

Here is a new addition I just picked up.....a 14? Size 17 jewel adjusted from 1926. As you can see it has a interesting 14k gold filled case with a February 1925 "shape pat." patent date. Dial exactly emulates the case shape in the hour and seconds painted outlines. The shape really drew me...
Yes, that ribbon was the buying point for me......usually the Twenties were very conservative in their ribbon choice.....this rehab was well done....even kept the original keyhole size tag and attached it to the new sweat.
Yes, on these old hats the sweats are an often delicate affair....this...
Here is my latest Stetson Twenty, mid-50's. This was a rehab....fitted with a new sweat AND ribbon and wind-trolley. SO....I will NOT be afraid to wear it out and about!!!!!
Has the Stetson "Mode Edge". True color best shown in the last image.

Jack,
I just posted more about it here. It is one of may favorites......hard to describe the felt....really great hand....and sort of a light heathered tones....
Yep...it is a gem.

NICE Additions Michael!!!! Your second hat does not appear to be a Longhorn, but rather has had the longhorn clip (it is not a pin actually, but a clip, to attach to the 6 cord thin ribbon the Longhorn came with) added to the ribbon. The second hat in my post IS a longhorn and there is also...
