    You are better off with a new one if for formal events. Unless you luck across a nice fur felt the old silk hats are generally too deteriorated and/or fragile to actualy wear.....silk does not age well with many environmental factors working hard to destroy it. Heck even the silk trimmings on...

    Yes......I kept looking at it wondering....."would it take a stretch"????? But, then I really do not like to do that, especially when they are that old....... M Ps Now on a newer one that I actually can try on and seems a large 7 3/8, I have indeed had some luck.

    Well here is my early addition for this thread. It could have been made right before the "Vita-Felt" version's, or just after. Vita-Felt was introduced by Stetson in1941 and seems to have been dropped around 1945 (at least as far as advertising it as something special is concerned). I think...
