Been kind of out of touch for a couple of days. The wife has a broken arm and is kind of helpless. She took a fall at the wedding last weekend, and I finally forced her to go to urgent care on Thursday. Yes, two breaks in her radius at the wrist. Bummer due to us leaving for a week long cruise next Friday. So... catching up on the Holland Connection shipment that arrived mid week.

I gave you a "like" for the hats, but not for the news of your wife's unfortunate injury. I hope the delay in seeking treatment didn't create any complications, and that her recovery will be quick and painless.

They have her splinted at a 90 degree angle right now, she is kind of helpless. I think they will put on a real cast next week. Hopefully she will have some more motion then. She is right handed, so she caught herself on that side in the fall. I've been passing on everyone's good wishes. She is very appreciative.

Last one for tonight, and then I'll get serious about putting these in their proper threads. We are having a cooler, rainy weekend so felts are coming in handy. This Rockel velour is the smallest slim brim in my Stingy Stable. It is about 1 5/8" or so. The details on this one and it's beautiful velour finish are what sold me on this one. The hand is just so soft and velvet like. I would imagine this is a late 60s early 70s example.

Sorry about your wife's arm, Red. I broke my radius at the wrist once, and it required surgery and titanium screws to correct it. I am glad your wife does not.

Ferdinand Walter Mödling - Baden (Austria), 5.25 oz / 149 g, excellence condition, possibly 1930s could late 1920s. Ferdinand Walter Mödling - Baden appears in the Austrian Hat Industry Guide (1926) but not sure if they made hats. There is no other company mark. The felt is fantastic same with the form. The bow is slightly offset.

My new hat isn't all that interesting by the standards on these boards, but I'm jazzed to get it, the first Stetson I've ever owned, a Premier Stratoliner. The seller included the original bill of sale, it was purchased new in 2015.

I love everything about it, the style, the colour ("cornhill"), the nice soft feel.

I took this photo to show the difference between this new Stetson and the hat I've been wearing, an Akubra Cattleman.

I love them both, the first hat hats I've owned since 1975. The Stetson is soft, the Akubra stiff.

Beautiful details on this one. Is the taped rear seam on a sweat a sign of an older stiff felt? My new English bowler has this. This one is a real show stopper.

Thanks Steve, I'm working on moving all these new ones into their proper threads. I did detail the three velours in the stingy thread a while ago. Yes, the liner is stitched, but in a different way than I've seen. ???
