My new hat isn't all that interesting by the standards on these boards, but I'm jazzed to get it, the first Stetson I've ever owned, a Premier Stratoliner. The seller included the original bill of sale, it was purchased new in 2015.

I love everything about it, the style, the colour ("cornhill"), the nice soft feel.

Here it is

The Premier grade Stratoliners are wonderful hats and you wear yours well. Double points for finding one used.

Thanks Steve, I'm working on moving all these new ones into their proper threads. I did detail the three velours in the stingy thread a while ago. Yes, the liner is stitched, but in a different way than I've seen. ???

Mike, Thanks! Is the liner attached to part of sweatband reed casing? I seem to recall that Rockel makes some small stitches but I am not sure I have seen this before. I will follow-up on the German - Austrian thread.

I googled "care package" and "Volendam," and now I know what you mean.
Volendam is sooo beautiful! I imagine Stefan lives there? How lucky, if he does.
I have felt an affinity for Holland since I had a Dutch girlfriend in my youth. The affinity persisted even after the Netherlands (unfairly?) beat Mexico in the last World Cup.

I do live there, Max. And have done so my entire life. We do tend to get a blind spot for the beauty around us, but trust me when I say it better way back when.
No chance of us beating you this time around in the world cup: we're not even there!

Been kind of out of touch for a couple of days. The wife has a broken arm and is kind of helpless. She took a fall at the wedding last weekend, and I finally forced her to go to urgent care on Thursday. Yes, two breaks in her radius at the wrist. Bummer due to us leaving for a week long cruise next Friday. So... catching up on the Holland Connection shipment that arrived mid week.

Stack-o-Stingy German Velour!

Three petting hats for sure. Don't play favourites now, Mike!

Well, there is very little chance of Mexico going to the second round anyway. With Germany and Sweden in the same group...
I am still sore with Robben, though. :)

First new hat in a while. Price was right, and couldn't pass it up with its box.
A bit tight and super stingy but I dig the ribbon.
My knee-jerk reaction was "Lose the feather" only because I generally don't care for them, but that feather suits that hat. And I agree about the ribbon--subtle, but sharp; everything about that hat just works for me! Well...everything except it's too small for my head. ;)

A refurbishing project of a hat Daniele sent me in a hat-exchange. Fleur de Huu of Penumbra hat co did the work. Check her out at:

Reblocked, relined, reribboned and resweated: the Rotto in its new form. Ugly duckling becomes beautiful swan. It was actually a size 58 once but fits my 56 size perfectly. Brim at 5,5cm and crown 10cm at the pinch. Beautiful grey heather felt and a lovely touch is the bow treatment with the keeper recreated the same as the original one. Pleated liner and frayed bow because the hat just had that vintage feel about it.

I agree, I typically lose the feathers but it looks decent with this hat, especially with the German flag pin.

Just picked up this vintage OR yesterday on Craigslist for only $30. Bought it from a really nice couple. The gentleman said it was his father’s. Condition is still great although it has a small pinhole on the brim which I’m not too concerned since this will be my knock around hat. Plan on taking it to my local hatter to clean and stretch it a little bit.

There are threads here on repairing moth damage (and other small holes). I bet you could fix it yourself pretty easily if the hole is small.
