Indeed you are right, i got my type III and 101 mixed up, this is indeed a nonsensical price then if you can still order it new...
(is that a 42 by any chance?)
Yep, those scratches were made during production, not in the showroom...
We actually had a thread about them recently:
https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/splitting-horsehide.100044/#post-2648224
They are a bit unsightly but you should not worry about them getting worst, they are just...
It's in Japan, their prices are usually x2 compared to what we would deem normal.
Also, i am pretty sure the Vanson Cheyenne isn't produced anymore and is somewhat rare.
(Rare might be the wrong term, it's not Goodwear rare, but i have been looking for a size 42 Cheyenne for more than a year...
For A2s i would say: Goodwear, Eastman, Bill Kelso, Platon (J.A Dubow mfg), Lost Worlds, and Aero all make a decent one, with the edge on authenticity going to Goodwear, Eastman, BK and Platon.
If i wanted "the bet ever" i would probably try to find a Goodwear, his civilian jackets are very...
Hey.
1 One does not repair/retouch light scuffing, they are part of wearing a leather jacket and will keep coming back whatever you do. Just embrace the scuffs and live happy.
I have had Kiwi black shoe polish disolve the top coat of CXL and will never get shoe polish on a jacket ever again.
2...
I don't think so...
For it to stretch the lining would have to stretch, the stitching would have to stretch, the leather would have to stretch, all at the same rate, i don't think that's possible.
Some people say they have done it, i would like to see before and after measurements, because in...
As @GHT said, the D rings are traditionally found on the back of military style trench coats.
Considering your coat also has epaulettes my guess is someone just decided to add trench coat style cues to a single breasted coat. It looks kinda cool.
I doubt it has anything to do with fly fishing...
Hey @Gamma68 what is the back length of your old perfecto?
I just picked up a 613H from 2006 and it has a 24" back.
It seems short, but i have found posts from Gail on the Schott forums from around 2006 saying the back was indeed supposed to be 24" back then. I think they increased that later...
In brown i have no idea, brown isn't realy my colour and every brown leather i have seen has always been on a lighter hide, meaning scratches will most likely show through.
In black i would say go with something dyed through like ELMC/Eastman, or Himel's oil tan Shinki, i think black Vicenza i...
That looks great, i really like the thick thread he uses and the way the back seams use a construction similar to a B-3 with added layer cover above the seams. It all looks very cool, probably my favourite Thedi to date.
Only thing i would change is tan stitching instead of OD green.
This jacket is made from CXL FQHH, it is a leather that wears in very fast and looses its top coat very fast too.
It is very waxy leather so although it scratches easily, you can usually buff scratches out.
If worn a lot it will change into this...
Dude, that's aperfect fit. It really works on your body shape much better than it did on me IMO.
I agree with you that it looks cleaner when closed, but it is definitely wearable both ways.
Maybe once broken in and softened it will hang better open? I really wore it very little and it still...
