That's what i have done on most of my laced jackets, i find the sweet spot, make a double flat knot and chop the ends, i am not a fan of dangling leather laces:
Saying that, my Langlitz has this two knot setup that i like and i don't feel the need to cut them shorter:
I've said it before and i'll say it again, Schott are not worth the asking price new.
They made sens when you could buy them for $450, but the current prices are IMO silly.
I would buy a used one without hesitation, but i would never pay new price, not when you can get so many other much nicer...
I have two Schott jackets made from HH, one black and one brown.
They are super smooth, super shiny, with a very vinyly feeling topcoat, both are breaking in in a similar fashion.
You can see pics of the black one here...
I wonder what that leather is.
On their webpage Aero only offer CX Steer as an option, this clearly isn't CXL.
I do't think it is Connolly either, it looks too even for that.
The seller says he bought it "many years ago" but doesn't remember if it is 5, 10 or 20 years...
When i reviewd my Commando i described the X as "it's a bit like a hybrid between CXL and Comp Weight to me".
This is what i was told by Kim when i asked her about my Commando:
"I just researched the coat, it was made from X150. Which is not so different than the competition weight.
They are...
Brand new looking Steer Aero Mariner for £350:

@Guppy @ton312 your size me thinks
That still doesn't make the marks OK in my opinion.
Yes Aero has that problem, 100% of my Aero jackets show these marks at least once.
That means Aero uses a technique that creates these problems, not that these problems are acceptable or normal.
You won't see that on a Freewheelers or a Lost...
What is annoying is that it can be avoided, you can wet the leather before folding it, you can skive the folds, some makers find a way to completely avoid it, yet others have this kind of thing showing consistently.
If it happened in 100% of jackets i would call it "normal", but it doesn't and...
It happens when leather is folded on itself and hammered/pressed very hard.
Some leathers are more prone to it than others, some makers are more prone to it than others.
The thicker the leather the faster it happens.
I would say 20% of my 25-30 jackets have that on at least one of the folded...
I wouldn't call it light, my CXL HH bootleggers are 5 and 5.6lb, my x150 Commando is 6.6lb and my J-24 (also 3.5oz) is 6.5oz.
It is definitely nice to wear, but it is by no means light...
I have a modern made Golden Bear jacket, IMO they are basically mall jackets and a very bad deal for the money.
Maybe used they are worth it, but i would never recommend anyone spend $1000 on a new Golden Bear leather jacket!
There are far better ways to spend that money.
Having done both the long leather coat and the shorter leather jacket, i can say i would always pick a waist length leather jacket when traveling. ( i usually take the Eurostar every 10 days or so, i have it down to a science!)
I found that coats were just too cumbersome, take too much room when...
PM sent, if still available i'll take it.
Edit: the langlitz version is pretty cool!

I bought my 644 new in NYC in 2013 for $490, the same jacket (now called 641) currently sells for $775, that's pretty much 60% increase unrelated to the strength of the GBP.
