Hey all!
The fog rolling in at the end of a beautiful coastal California afternoon sees me still in this Panama that I found in a thrift store and finished myself a few years back. It's not the finest weave I own, but it's nicely woven and well, you know it's gonna fit right when you make it...
My introduction to that particular spirit was memorable enough that I never repeated the experience.
Fortunately Panama hats don't leave you with a 2 day hangover. :)
Hey everyone!
This entry-level Homero Ortega Cuenca isn't anything remarkeble as far as Panama hats go (about 110-120 wpsi if I recall correctly) , but it holds a special place in my heart since it was my introduction to the world of toquilla and other fine straws. So, it deserved to be ironed...
Thanks Johnny!
This isn't just a nice looking hat, but also a great learning experience between the three sweatband replacements, a couple reblocks (with a naptha bath and a woolite wash in the process) and three ribbon jobs. I thought about going back to the original color combo with a brown...

Thanks Stefan!
Finding clouds around one's head is a hazard of living in Northern California no matter what hat you wear!
Oh wait... I guess it's the same in your neck of the woods too... :)
Hey folks,!
This Stratoliner has been a frequent flier as of late. Pun intended.
The color goes well with the thick coastal fog blanketing my little town.
Have a great day!
Did somebody here grab the $70 1950's grey Whippet off Etsy this afternoon? Looked a little bent up but nothing that couldn't be steamed or ironed out.
Thanks Brent!
I bet there would be far fewer of these straw survivors if the moths liked 'em!
I' m thrilled to have found this one, and that I was able to revive the straw.
