Best of the new Aero bunch

Carrie, why would you say your customers prefer the steer over the surely rarer, immortal horsehide? Just interested. And I still don't know whether they'll be making Maxwells in the UK, given it's your invention, nicht? SJ

Best of the new Aero bunch

Sounds very nice. Would love to see a pic. Oddly, I'm increasingly drawn to the Thunderbay. That's one hell of a jacket.

    First Leather Jacket

All right! You didn't stash the hair, too, did you, Dav? keep you warm in the winters, along with your Teamster there. SJ

    First Leather Jacket

Mine was very similar looking to this – an army surplus store cheapie (not that I'm saying yours was cheap). Funny that I can't say what I did with it, given that I was so attached to it. I'd feel self-conscious in a biker's number now (I only have a push bike – retro, though, very cool) but on...

    First Leather Jacket

Your first ever leather? In order to treat any obsession, it's vital to get to its core, however obscure. In my case, it's not obscure. At the age of around 15, I decided I simply had to have a leather jacket; it's just what a guy did, right? But my preference then was not for a slick sort of...

Alexander Leathers Simmons and Aero Aeromarine Discussion

There's an obvious call for "The Amundsen", but I don't know whether Aero would do a seal-hide jacket. It's probably illegal. SJ

The Shackleton would certainly give rise to comment. I think I'd wear it. I'm not sure I'd leave the house wearing it. SJ

Oh no! Talon zipper on Aero 38-1711-P stuck

Thanks. You might have difficulty mailing me for a few hours because my inbox has been all blocked up.

Oh no! Talon zipper on Aero 38-1711-P stuck

OK, Holly, the zip isn't working so I'm returning the jacket. Thanks, a speedy reply would be much appreciated. SJ

Oh no! Talon zipper on Aero 38-1711-P stuck

"Operator error" – it's a zip! OK, the zip is faulty so I'm going to have to return it. And I was just beginning to like that jacket...

Oh no! Talon zipper on Aero 38-1711-P stuck

Problem is, it's misaligned. Thought I was going to get stuck in the bloody thing. Had a doctor's appointment, which would have been pretty tough if they'd wanted to hear me cough or anything.

Oh no! Talon zipper on Aero 38-1711-P stuck

Thing is, I put it on in a bit of a hurry, without doing the fiddly business at the bottom that these deadstock zippers require -- and now look! SJ

Oh no! Talon zipper on Aero 38-1711-P stuck

Oh no! I've only had this Aero A2 for a month or so and the zipper is already stuck. I hear it is a common problem with the original Talons. Has anyone else experienced it and can you suggest any solutions? (Soap doesn't seem to work.) Big disappointment if I have to send it back to the factory...

Aero Leather Barnstormer in brown FQHH

Lovely jacket. Would be great to see it worn in decent light, outside. It's definitely one of Aero's more beautiful jackets. I would fear back strain but I know the weight of the longer jackets doesn't faze some people. SJ

Alexander Leathers Simmons and Aero Aeromarine Discussion

Certainly prefer to embrace her than any of the shawl-collar interlocutors here! I think Butte's making the most important point here, though: the Lounge has long been about leather-jacket fans discussing fit, purchases etc. To mix that up with vendors' responses, I'm not sure that works –...

The third jacket I bought from Aero last week

My God, Major. I thought this was going to be a third leather. I have an old tight-fitting Paul Smith denim. Rarely gets an airing (as it were), given how much leather I have to get through. SJ

Man, your knees would buckle and your shoulders give way! It ain't called heavy horsehide for nothing. SJ

Best of the new Aero bunch

I should add that the Thunderbay also looks very cool -- or, rather, warm -- especially with the featured collar. Seems more attractive for really cold weather than the very heavy looking Hudson and Northeaster. I feel I should be doing something more butch in life, though, if I were to wear the...
