To bi-swing back or not to bi-swing back?

    Bi-swing pics, please! SJ
  2. Sir Jacket

To bi-swing back or not to bi-swing back?

"Poofing" out, aka the batwings look: not good. SJ

To bi-swing back or not to bi-swing back?

I have a 30s hb without one -- very trim -- and it's completely fine.

To bi-swing back or not to bi-swing back?

What do folks think of the so-called action or bi-swing back on certain of Aero's models, eg the Teamster? I have reservations about them from the style point of view -- I prefer simplicity and clean lines -- but am beginning to wonder whether you need them with a longer jacket, given the weight...

Hey is Insurrection now Thurston Brothers?

Some gorgeous jackets. As a long-time Aero customer, I was wondering about what look like proprietary designs, eg the slim-fit Stuart. Is this your adaptation of an Aero design? (If so, it's a good one.) SJ

    New Goodwear Prices

The way the wait at Aero is going, I'll have my GW in the post first -- and I ordered them both at about the same time. I'm really looking forward to my spring A-2! SJ

    Alexander Leathers

Makes it look a less professional operation than it could, though, and so risks putting off those people who care about such things. I've contemplated in the past offering my subbing services in exchange for a few jackets.

The photos are still very uninspiring, though. I don't wish them harm but just make the observation that almost anyone could whip up a better site with iWeb and an amateur photographer with a half-decent SLR. I know it's Scotland but there must be some natural light. The copy is of a better...

What's the real deal with Sam Walker jackets?

I remember when Sam Walker was selling Aero jackets, back in the 90s. In fact, that's where I got my first fix. As far as I remember, they had the same Aero label. There was a whole basement room of the things -- smelled wonderful. And Sam Walker put out a great little, retro-looking catalogue...

How do you know when a jacket is broken in?

It's mainly the patina. I recommend going out wearing it on new year's eve in a wintry country, then waking up in the snow, definitely having poured beer on it and ideally having got into a minor scrap. Bit of vomit probably doesn't go astray, either (scraped off). Then we're talking character. SJ

Most crocodiles I've seen -- and I've seen a few -- aren't particularly stylish. But, then again, neither is the jacket. SJ

This could be like a child's arithmetic exercise: 1 Goodwear = 2 Belstaffs = 3 Aeros = how many vintage guitars? SJ

    Aero waiting time?

New order. I'm hoping my horse hides weren't faux. Wasn't it only the very heavy hh that was at risk? Not actually sure what very heavy hh is. Don't think I was ever offered it. S

    Aero waiting time?

How long have people been waiting for a jacket since la crise d'Aero? For me, it's getting on for six months. SJ

    A-1 by THE FEW

Much obliged, Dr H. On second thoughts, perhaps I do like the new GW A-1, after all. It may just need some hardcore wearing-in. S

    A-1 by THE FEW

I agree. Not a fan of blousing at all -- authentic or no. SJ

    A-1 by THE FEW

Useful stuff, Dr H -- and thanks. Forgive me if I've misunderstood but do you have a pic of the Goodwear A-1 with the new cape? I was convinced to buy one because of the pic Butte posted wearing a GW A-1 with the older cape. Apparently the pattern was an older version, and imperfect, but the...
