If Willy Wonka made leather jackets...

Yes, I went to Galashiels, and I think if it lost Aero it would be a big loss indeed.

    Yes, that could work. SJ

    New Good Wear Ventura...

I just checked for an update on my Goodwear. Now it won't arrive until at least next "fall". That'll be at least 18 months! People change in that time. Apparently there are 50 jackets in front of me. John must be getting on for as many orders as Aero, and he's one guy. SJ

If Willy Wonka made leather jackets...

Speaking of fetishes, I'm trying to get Ms SJ into a little 30s hb. None of the other models would really work. I mean, then we'd be talking major league fetishism. SJ

If Willy Wonka made leather jackets...

And why not bring those retro paper catalogues back? A great marketing tool and fun thing to have. Although, now I think about it, maybe it was Sam Walker that brought those out. Full of desirable things my then 20-something self couldn't afford. SJ

    Levi's Vintage Clothing 1930s Distressed-Leather Jacket

I agree. There's something dishonest about pre-distressed jackets. One wonder whether Aero's vintage leather falls into that category, though. I do like the front pockets on the Levi's. SJ

    Levi's Vintage Clothing 1930s Distressed-Leather Jacket

Stumbled upon this on Mr Porter, among a collection of supposedly the best leather jackets in the world -- most of which I thought boring or hideous, and few under £1,000. This, however, is pretty nice. Only distressed leather I've ever found convincing. Closely resembles Aero's 30s halfbelt...

If Willy Wonka made leather jackets...

Any predictions as to what we'll see at the Aero expo? I'd like a slimfit Teamster-style jacket, a la Insurrection. SJ

If Willy Wonka made leather jackets...

Actually, guys, that image is (also) from one of the early paper catalogues that Aero used to put out. This was when they sold shoes and all sorts of other beautiful things. My god, am I the longest-standing Aero buyer here? SJ

Certainly an added perk. One girl came up to me and said, "Hey, nice jacket. Especially the arms." Don't tell Ms SJ, though. SJ

Major, yes, it's very dark. I like that: a brown that is almost black. SJ

Rocketeer, they're Redwings, the Chelsea boot version thereof. Thanks for photo advice. Yes, beer bottle would have been good. And I did feel like a berk posing for Ms SJ but, c'mon!, I was bringing vital intelligence to the forum. SJ

Thanks for all comments, fellas. Well, for people who haven't been reading another recent thread, I actually went to Galashiels to have this fitted around September last year -- by Will. I tried on all sorts of A2s, in all sorts of sizes, to determine, I gather, which bit would fit which part...

Actually, guys, I agree with schitzo: the sleeve length is a lot more comfortable like that. It gives you plenty of flexibility and will in any case shorten by an inch or so with wear. SJ

Urgent A2 question: how much length should I add?

Here you go, Loungers. My long-awaited Aero 38-1711-P Type A-2 in seal jerky with rust knits, size 40, 2 inches added to sleeve and body length. I think this one's a keeper but let me know your thoughts. SJ

    Himel Brothers Leather

Wow, what a beauty. It's a bit like the Aero Teamster but I think I prefer it. Is it black? Would be nice to see some outside shots to gauge the colour. SJ

Horween USA and Aero Leather Joint Statement

I'm wearing Ironhearts as we speak. Second skin. If you're in London, try Son of a Stag, off Brick Lane, for great Japanese Selvedge denim selection (although not Ironheart, I believe). And I like your dog! SJ
