While I agree that technology is greatly advanced since 1957, I guarantee that by 2058 there will be more '57 Chevrolets on the road than '07 Chevys. The simplicity and upgradability of pre-electronic cars are their advantage.

Anybody seen the new Converse "One Star" pseudo-letterman cardigan at Target? I bought one the moment I saw it and it's rapidly becoming my favorite sweater. I've been toying with getting a blue letter "C" to sew on to it, but I think that might be going too far.

Kilroy, I must say that sounds like a comfy bicycle you've described, but I couldn't help but grin, because the hybrid of classic and modern parts makes it sound a bit like the Delorean in BTTF III with the vacuum tube electronics and bias-ply whitewalls.
For retro rear suspension, how about...
Resacking?
er... resacking? I'm afraid I don't know what that is. I love writing with fountain pens, but I'm still learning the basics of their care and feeding.

Fleetwood Transistor Six "Globe" Novelty Radio
This radio is a bit of a mystery. It's been around in my family since new - my dad got it for my grandmother for Christmas "way back when." I'm vague on the date because my grandmother thinks Dad bought it for her when they lived in Japan...
Black visors are a post-WWII thing. In fact, you sometimes heard old timers talk about the "brown-shoe" Army or Air Force, meaning prior to the change to black-leather accoutrements. I'm not sure what year the exact change occurred, sometime in the mid- to late-1950s, I believe. Cold War...
Parker Quandry
I just discovered my local antique store has three old Parkers in one of the booths - I looked them over, but ultimately decided to pass. They seemed awfully short. Is that typical of antique Parkers or was I (as the clerk and my wife seemed to think) looking at some kind of...
Burns Bannion
I can't think of a better place to post this, so I'll mention it here since we're already talking books. Anyone here know the Burns Bannion "Kill Me In..." stories? They were written by a friend of my grandparents and they used to have nearly the whole collection (though I don't...
I've a passion for golden-era advertising art and fall is my favorite season. As such, I'm trying to assemble a screensaver for the coming months. If anyone has any nice looking fall-themed art they'd like to share with me, I'd be most appreciative.
I'll start:

Wow, this is the first time since 2001 that I haven't been thinking about fall collegiate wear. Now I need to think about fall law-office wear!
Except, of course, the law office where I'm going has a casual dress code and I could wear collegiate there if I wanted.

Atomic Glee,
That's a fascinating project. I love in-fill buildings as they present their own opportunities and challenges when compared to already-standing buildings. I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to see some pictures and updates.
One point - I like the concept of using...
Technically that's not a rifle, that's a submachine gun (to Americans) or a sub-machine carbine (to a period Brit). Rifles are longer and fire a more powerful round.

Were it me, I would be wearing this jacket:
This hat:
And this hat device:
But then, I want a Sportster disguised as a WLD. Your mileage may vary.
