    Female Crooners

Who are some of your very favourite female singers from the 20s-40s era? I've always preferred women singers to male in every genre I've ever been into and I'd like to find more music by more swingin' ladies. Here's who I have: Frances Langford Annette Hanshaw Lucille Bogan Lee Wiley...

    What are you listening to?

Lots of Frances Langford all of a sudden. When I bought her CD a few months ago I didn't like it at first and put it up on the shelf. Just the other day I decided I wanted to give it another chance and now it won't come out of my Jeep's CD player! :)

    I hate monkeys.

I LOVE all animals......... ..........but I can't stand monkeys! They freak me out and I don't think they're cute for the very reasons you mentioned. My husband wants one as a pet

    Broadway Melody

That was The Broadway Melody of 1938 -- which is the weakest one of the whole series, in my opinion. The original 1929 Broadway Melody is WONDERFUL!! One of my all-time favourite movies. I stayed up to watch it, even though I've seen it 3738 times and have it on DVD :)

    Movie Villains

Gail Patrick in My Man Godfrey (1936). Actually, I don't love to hate her and her witchery, I LOVE HER!! It's Carole Lombard that gets under my skin in that movie [huh]

    Oh My!

This ad ran throughout the 10s into the very early 30s! 1932 These are the only two weight gaining ads I've come across in my magazines. I have COUNTLESS weight loss ads scanned, though!

    A woman's voice

I like women who have low, breathy, lispy, semi-throaty voices. It's hard to explain, but if I hear it I know it! Ever since I was a kid I've LOVED women with this type of voice because it goes through my whole body and feels kinda good :o My 5th Grade teacher had a voice like this. That...

Has anyone read either of these books?

My husband bought me the Jazz Age Beauties book as a random gift. There's not much "reading" to do in it, but it's a gorgeous picture book and I do recommend if you like that sort of thing. And I got BOTH DVDs 2 days ago (It's been crazy over the past couple days!) THANKS SO MUCH!! :)

    Now & Then Photos

1929 1987 (me when I was 12 lol ) Still looks the same today. The Showboat is the Surf. You can see the same tower in the righthand corner of the photos, also the three flagpoles in the center! Inside the same theatre, 1929 *sigh* Inside now, facing the same wall as the...

    "Lazy" Vintage Hair Ideas

Done with a real 1920s Wave Iron -- the kind you heat over a stove! Just heat that baby up super hot, crimp your hair intermittently, make little spit curls on the ends with gel, comb and re-shape everything (unless you like the super-tight look), spray like a helmet, and there's a fast and...

    I always liked this photo....

I just might! I love that stuff, too. I have a book about South Jersey Movie Houses and it's always fun (but depressing) to see them in their glories in the 1930s and then ride past them today :(

    Handsome Fellas!

William Haines was sooooo HOT! If you haven't already, read his bio by William J. Mann. I was almost crying at some parts.

    Handsome Fellas!

I'm probably the only one... ...but I've always been a big Karl Dane fan. I even think he's a bit sexy :o And when Karl Dane gets together with my other love WILLIAM HAINES... *fans self*
