Most of the movies I haven't seen, but want to, are "lost":
Hollywood (1923)
It's Great To Be Alive (1931)
Convention City (1933)
A few "unlost" movies that I want to see:
The Warrior's Husband (1931)
The Story Of Temple Drake (1932)
For me, I like to be pale. I'm a natural redhead so I burn if I go out in the sun. Then I break out into tons of orange freckles that I don't really like. :(
Also, most people who guess my age tell me I'm "22." Not that I'd WANT to be 22 again -- I'm very proud of my 32 years -- but, it...

Listening to my 1930s CDs while driving to work at 6am puts me in a nostalgic mood -- even though I'm playing a CD and driving an '08 Jetta. It's not the devices, it's the mixture of the music and the darkness. Watching an old movie after midnight in complete darkness is the perfect way to...
My, oh my! I didn't think this thread would loom near the top for as long as it has!! But I'm glad! Keep telling us what movies you've currently enjoyed/unenjoyed!
As for me, the Fedora Lounge's own "Midnight Palace" copied me some Leila Hyams movies a few months ago and I'm just now...
I've read Kay Francis: I Can't Wait To Be Forgotten by Scott O'Brien -- it's thin on bio and heavy on movie plot synopses. It wasn't terrible, but it can be a bit boring if you've already seen most of her film.
As for Joan Blondell, I do hope this bio is better than her autobiographical...
I love the gal on the right! She looks so mischievous! Almost a little naughty.
Amazing hat and outfit (what I can see of it!)
This could be a Hollywood portrait. Her spit curls are amazingly perfect along with everything else.
HAT LOVE.
Hat and coat love!
What...
Count me as one of those FOR the return of vinyl. I absolutely love the reverb. When I was growing up I bought MOST of my music on LP -- not only did I think it sounded better, but it had bigger, better pictures :)
Then I started buying those evil cassette tapes for some reason.
I've...
I was BIGGER in high school -- 200lbs, size 18/20.
I lost all the weight in '93-'94 and I've been a comfortable size 10 ever since.
I do sometimes wish I had kept some of my "fat" jeans, though. Just to see how far I've come.
I never actually knew his name, but my ex-boyfriend and I would always go down there and pay him a visit if we found ourselves in the Antiquarium. He had some excellent dresses and skirts that were REALLY from the 40s and 50s -- as you said, he didn't try to pass off a 70s dress as 30s. He was...
Did he have a pomp? Did he sell vintage in the basement of the Antiquriam on 5th or 6th (I forget which one!) Street?
If so, I used to buy from him often and wondered what happened to him myself. I was very disheartened the day I went down there and he was gone :(
I don't know if this would be exactly what you mean, but in the 1930s "Sylvia Of Hollywood" had a column in Photoplay where she chewed out certain stars for what she thought were their "flaws."
Sylvia would tell actresses they were fat, had a too large nose, tell them their eyes weren't...
The biggest age gap for me was 20 (me) and 36 (him). We had nothing in common and it only lasted for 5 months. But that was just us; not saying that ALL relationships with large age differences will go awry. My aunt set us up and I think we were both a little lonely and desperate for...
