Nothing too exciting or taxing -- just a curtain for our bathroom for that extra added privacy!! :) My husband picked out the fabric. I sewed it with red thread. It looks swank!
As always, thanks gals. I've been sewing my brains out. I worked on this during the 4 day weekend...
It's from this: http://evadress.com/6222.html
My chest closure didn't turn out as snazzy, but any looser and it looked silly. I'm sure it was intended for a flat chest originally.
I'm brand new to sewing and haven't gone into grading territory yet. I fit into vintage size 18, but I buy size 20, too, because I have no problem taking them in a bit. For an absolute beginner, I'd say stick with your size or one size larger.
Here's my head...

My attempt at these trousers. I love them! I'm very shocked at how awesome they look! I've still got a few "hidden" flaws, but I'm getting better. I will certainly wear these out!
Tell me -- do you think the cuffs are too high??
Oops, should have put that I'm ansewring a question for jtcarrey!!! But, yes, they are cute! And I have a '34 pattern very similar to this that I'm making into jeans! I'm almost done. Stayed tuned at a Fedora lounge near you!
I'm no pattern expert, but I would say this is 1940s. I'd say very early 40s judging by the hairdos on the drawings. Also the puffy sleeves make me think it's from that era. Maybe even '39. Again, I'm no expert -- this is my "method" when it comes to dating patterns!!!
I just went ahead and bought a machine and read the manual. It won't make sense at first, but once I started getting the feel for my machine it started to make perfect sense! Sewing was and is something I desperately want to learn!! I know I may never be as good as my seamstress friend or the...
Marzipan -- it really looks cute! Doesn't look wonky at all! My stuff still can be wonky at times -- especially the hems. Bleh. One thing I hate is skirt hems!!
Sew every single day. Even if it's the same thing over and over again. I made 3 of the same apron to start with. They got...
Amy Jeanne, this fabric pattern is so adorable, is it repro?
The fabric is new/repro -- it's from ladybuttonfabrics.com.
I made the same skirt in brown corduroy:
And another pillow just for fun:
Amy Jeane- That skirt is so much cuter then the pattern illustration. It looks...
LD -- I love it! I love the yellow button. Great touch. Also, the bottom lefthand photo looks like a fish with it's mouth open and it made me giggle a little bit.
Here's what I've been doing:
Kitchen curtain
Fabric detail. I love it!
1940s skirt made today all by myself...
Errr...is it wrong that I think Thelma Harper has some good style? lol Seriously. It's one of my favourite TV shows and whenever I watch it I'm always commenting on how I like her coats and shoes. And I like Iola's style, too. Fer Realz.
My husband has seen me in all my phases and I have nothing to hide from him. And he has nothing negative to say about any phase of my grooming. If he did, I wouldn't have married him.
Actually, he was once telling me how ridiculous he thought his ex was because she would wake up way...
I'm a beginner, but I've dove right in. I'm making stuff from vintage patterns and I bought myself a brother sewing machine with all kinds of functions (more than I need right now!) I also have a 1938 Kenmore Rotary DeLuxe.
I learned basics from a professional seamstress, and we do get to...
Pink powder blush dusted on my lids
Brown eyeliner, heavier on the top lids
Black mascara
Black, painted-on eyebrows
Just a dab of concealer under the eyes to cover the purple
Red lipstick
I can't stand the feel of foundation or anything else all over my face. Just the eyes and lips...
I just bought this on my lunch break. DAMN! Everyone was right -- vintage patterns are addicting. I'm not even that good of a sewer yet -- yet I'm aiming high! :)
