WWI (1918-1919) Clothing
SOme examples of fashion of the late 1910s: The dresses were often sleeveless, low-cut, lots of beads, skirts were usually layered and empire waisted. Lots of frills! Bandeaus were very popular, as were large, frilly hats -- though not as extreme as the decade before...- Amy Jeanne

I finished this today. I thought it was going to be ugly, but it turned out ok. I'm not too happy with the green edging I put on the bolero sleeves, but I ran out of orange :( I'll fix it, though.... With bolero Without bolero Detail of the fabric and the little orange flecks...- Amy Jeanne

Dressing Vintage
I totally agree with the OP. I've only been into it since 1998, but I still look at different types of cuts and seams in dresses/patterns and know almost exactly what year it's from -- if not the exact year than the exact "era" (ie, late 1930s, mid 1940s, etc). Mixing Eras
