I like shea butter as well because it has the added benefit of also being good for your skin and hair. -

Between the possibilities of a vintage hat having slightly shrunk and the ease of padding the sweat, I'd say you'll probably end up alright. Caveat emptor, of course. -

Underwelts - Yay or Nay?
Underwelts are a passable substitute for a Cavanagh edge as well. I quite like underwelts, though if push came to shove, I might have slightly more affection for a bound ege. Still, I made sure to have some underwelts in my collection.
