2015 Stetson Excellent Quality GREEN THIN RIBBON (Preview & Review)

There won't ever be a huge market for a $300 hat. But in a world where Optimo has two brick and mortar stores; pop culture figures ala Pharrel Williams are donning hats; and even Levi's is selling a $200 pair of jeans, Hatco can sell some lids if they can be marketed well.

2015 Stetson Excellent Quality GREEN THIN RIBBON (Preview & Review)

Their original store is in North Beach here in SF...I've driven by (terrible parking), but never been in. They even apparently have a resident hatter at the North Beach Store. Lots of hats sold out of their Haight st shop too. The clerk there was very taken with my Cavanagh Homburg the last...

    The Stratoliner Association {Premiere}

The funny thing is, I've had my eye on the Boss Raw Edge reissue and have been thinking my Stratoliner is so small! But, Hartwell, it looks right at home on your head. I've been trying to give my brim a bit of swoop by just giving the brim a bit of a tug. I have a feeling this may need some...

    Help

Oh, that Fouquet guy again..... Mr. Dean is correct, neither hats are fedoras proper. The first is very close to Stetson's "Boss Raw Edge," the second black hat is basically the hat I already linked you to (which JJ Hat Center is calling a Boss of the Plains, somewhat inaccurately). A hat...

    Help

Umm, can you be more specific in what you're looking for? If you're not particular about the crown shape, another option would be something like a Stetson Austral, which is buffalo felt, which will be cheaper. But that's a flattop crown. The Squatter's brim won't be as large, but it will...

Ask a question, get an answer

IMHO, there's no solid reason to pay more than $500 for a totally...ahem "pimped out" custom lid. Optimo, for example, runs above this margin...and that didn't stop me from buying one. :-D What would I pay extra for? Quality sweatband; vintage ribbon; finish treatment (long hair, suede...

    Recommendation for Outdoors Hat

If you're looking for a durable outdoors hat, you will not regret spending $100+ on an Akubra. It's a far superior value to any other hat you'll find for less.

Art Fawcett is making me a hat!

A lightweight silverbelly would be an excellent choice. Very versatile. I'd say you can go for a wider brim as well. I'm about 5'7", and 2" is definitely stingy. I've found that 2 1/8"-2 3/8" to be a perfect width for most looks.

What is the specific brand and model hat worn by James Stewart?

Knudsen makes a good looking replica.... http://www.knudsenhats.com/jimmy-stewart.html I first noticed this hat in Broken Arrow, where he wore it with a jaunty slant and a bit of an uneven brim curl

What is the specific brand and model hat worn by James Stewart?

I would be shocked, positively shocked, if someone here knew the exact make and model. Among Stetsons alone there's so many variations on thin ribbon westerners with bound edges, I'd venture it's impossible to know, absent a clear picture of the sweat (assuming it had an embossed model name...

    Hat stretching issue?

Erm, are we not talking about the bulging of the felt?

    Hat stretching issue?

Not ruined, but if you really want it to disappear, you'll have to reblock the crown. If you're going up a size, it's always best to have the hat just rebuilt.
