Depends on what you're looking for really, but let me give you my opinions on the custom hatters I've purchased from (in no particular order).
John Penman/Penman Hats. John made my first custom lid. He exemplifies the word craftsman. Although he is well known as a maker of Indiana Jones...
I thought I saw binding on it? My first thought was Optimo because it looked like it had a bit of taper at the top, and I couldn't place the color to anything like Winchester makes....
Possible? Sure. Will the results be satisfactory? Depends on your definition of satisfactory. I would say it's not really worth the trouble. The pre-creased hats are generally shorter to begin with. I believe Mr. Dean popped out one of the Hatco Stratoliners with a hatshaper IIRC....
Mr. Deckard graciously offered to sent me a new Premiere Strat in the correct Royal Deluxe felt, after he saw my post here saying it had tapered, and the pics with the "Royal" sweat. Awaiting its arrival....
I wore a felt hat in summer in southern China one time...well, one trip. Wore my Resistol OR clone walking through Antietam in June. I didn't see a thermometer, but both places were hot. At a certain point, hot is just going to be hot.
I do have some good straws now though, so I'm less...

Usually I can only get prices this low on my own size....looking for a gift for a larger headed friend and found this 50's St. Regis.
Yah, apparently Matt was away from the factory when the wrong hats were used. My black strat was one of those hats, making the "Royal Stetson" die on the sweat not a misprint...they just used the wrong hat bodies. Matt has graciously offered me a replacement, so I'm eager to see what comes in.
