Optimo has a Royal Blue in their 1000 felt. Penman has a royal blue for his Spirit hat. Bob at Black Sheep hand dyes felts, and I would imagine blue is achievable.
So, after I posted about my disappointing experience with my 'Premiere' Stratoliner in the SF mist, Mr. Deckard reached out to me after having seen the pictures I posted earlier. As noted earlier in the thread, apparently the first run of the black Premiere Stratoliners was made with the...
In a word, yes. Owing to their availability, much of my collection is from the 50's and 60's. They're quite nice hats. Of course, now that I have a 40's Stetson, I surely appreciate the difference; but, generally speaking, I would say go for the 60's hats.
Resistol is, IMHO an overlooked...
Funnily enough, I have a grey Cavanagh Homburg....with an L. Strauss imprint from Indianapolis, and an undecipherable signature. Although mine has a different signature.

You can't go wrong with either, basically. Art's styling tends to be more reminiscint of classic styling, while Bob's hats are generally less traditional. Which is of course not to suggest that Art can't make a more contemporary look or Bob can't do traditional. Just that they each have their...
