anyone looking for new Schott jackets, this seller is closing down his Chicago store and offering what looks like 25% discount or so a few different models. Saw 141, 118, 125...
I know. Totally. Only reason why I went for 118 (well that and I really like the 100 series Schott leather). I guess you could add a snap, no? Ask Schott, they may even send you the proper hardware.
Los Angeles finally has jacket weather. Only took to about November for it to happen LOL. I can finally wear a jacket outside and not just inside with my boxer shorts. Let the breaking in begin.
Schott 118. Think this is my bury me in it jacket. Although I got a couple things in queue that...
oh wow. You guys are killing me, or more importantly my wife is going to :p
Alright, I'll let you know. I'm literally juggling like 5 different jacket prospects right now and just need to prioritize what I need vs want vs wtf.
The fact that it goes more brown than black (or just stays blue)...
That chest would be a little tight for me and I'm looking for brass hardware, otherwise yeah, I would have bought it with the B3 :)
BTW, it's at the tailor now. I'm actually taking out like 4 or 5 inches from the waist and abdomen. Going to fit real nice. Now just need Los Angeles to go into...
I'm thinking about it, already pinged you yesterday. I've got a couple things I'm specing out and I think I'm starting to just do some of this stuff for the dopamine rush : ) Although my closet bar is starting to bend from the weight of all these jackets . I might send you an offer next...
Yeah, Racer a tad bit snug. But not too bad. Is leather broken in?
Collared one is spot on.
What size is the racer? I might be interested. We similar size, I'm 185lbs, so if it's tight on you, might be perfect for me :) Just saying.
I only have the sample. My jacket was Seal Brown Premium Steer. Like I said, it's nice. Kind of one dimensional though and it seems to be chipping pretty easily with a lighter brown underneath. Not necessarily bad, will create some cool aging.
I asked for other samples of the sheepskin...
Cha-ching.
Goat definitely the way to go. I like the steer one I got, but even from just the samples, goat clearly is their sweet spot.
Definitely getting that other jacket first helped you refine all the measurements. So crucial. It's going to be second skin like crazy because you're...
Yeah, I bought a used Aero Bomber from classified. Freaking gorgeous. It's getting tailored right now to bring in the waist and abdomen area a few inches so I don't look like the Michellin Man. I'm wearing that thing regardless, I don't care if I pass out. I was actually trying to figure out...
fantastic. Looks amazing. I'm getting in line too. I already got a couple exchanges with him about some ideas. Going for black (debating the teacore version), might take off the hand warmer pockets though.
I gave him my body measurements instead of jacket, but that's actually a good idea...
been taking a crash course in all the vintage jackets on these forums, so can't comment on authenticity, but regardless of my ignorance there, yeah, this one they did a great job for sure.
Re: the leathers. If I were to order anything else or anyone asked me for recommendation, based on the...
thanks for that. I see your point.
Maybe I should have been more clear. That's not what the jacket looks like in real life. I was trying to match the photo to the qc photo he sent me. I was curious if it was my mistake that I didn't notice in the QC process. The photo is showing more...
here's a comparison shot. I did my best to match the exact lighting, shades, etc.
QC Photo he sent me. Thread looks green:
What I got delivered. More tan, definitely more contrast, less subtle than the above. Or am I just losing my mind LOL. I mean honestly, tell me, maybe I'm wrong:
this going to go quick. If it was a 40, I would have bought even though I just bought one very similar. Crazy the size difference between the 40 and 42. Either I got a small 40 or you got a big 42. But GLWS
yes, it's part of the collar hanger piece. But in case I was not clear, that color thread is on the outside of the jacket. So it's not a question of them matching the liner, although maybe that's what they tried to do on the inside. So basically on the outside of the jacket, I now have two...
I think we're all on same page here. I know shit can happen and clearly they've done a lot of good work. And I wasn't expecting Real McCoy's level detail or craftsmanship for the price.
But the response I got from Shawn was not good. He's saying that the thread is the olive color. It's a 6...
For sure. Really trying to keep expectations in check. But some green, mostly tan thread is the deal breaker. The paper thing is kind of bad but not end of world.
But I used to buy Andrew Marc jackets back in the day before I started educating myself, and I think those are made in...
