Buler: Isn't 23-1/4 rather large for a 7-1/4 I not trying to be smart just testing my memory. I wear 7-1/4 and think that is more in line with 22-7/8? The 8 x 6-3/4 seems to be more in line with 22-7/8.
asking because at 22-7/8 I am interested

Jon, I just remeasured the Forty and it's closer to 6 5/8 width. That puts it at 23.07 inch circumference. My head is 22 3/4" and the hat fits me perfect. Measuring the circumference perfectly is pretty tough. I usually go with 23" give or take a little as a 7 1/4. I would say this should fit you well. I'll revise the measurement in the auction.
