Beautiful 100 series Schott leather. Naked aniline. Kind of spongey, rubbery, breaks in real quick. Very busy back and arm pit area with the deeper cut biswing, under arm gusset and just overall pattern.
If you're going to buy off the shelf, better for a shorter, beer belly kind of person...
Different kind of waxed leather than what you've been talking about, but Schott has a waxed leather line they've done a few jackets with, kind of a mid weight, shiny cowhide. I've got the 519. Was kind of on the fence with it for a while. Fit a little too straight and long for me, so one day...
those Branded jackets are really nice. I've got a CHP with the brass hardware and it's stunning. I think my great, great, great grand kids will be able to wear the jacket it's so well made, really nice thick leather.
John has one in the classifieds that is gorgeous, with the fur collar. I...
I put a very thin spray of water on my FQHH, then wear it for like 10 minutes until it dries and it helped soften it up on the surface. Of course this stuff is thick and I think it takes years to get the full drape and all that. There is a huge difference wearing it in sunshine vs. indoor or...
For softer leather, I agree 10 will be overkill.
Contrast stitching was my main issue with my jacket as the colors on the website are not accurate (best case, worst case they used the wrong thread for my build). Beige is going to be very contrasting. So just be careful for what you want...
That's my fav, Ton. I'm not as much of a conniosseur on the older jackets with the bigger cuffs, hardware, pointy collars, etc. I can appreciate them on one level, but for practical day to day use, I think to myself, well, there's a reason some of these went out of style  But this one to...
There was someone on our forums who lived in south of France I believe, who had an Aero B3 made but with the shearling length of a B6. That might be the way to go.
The other thing I've seriously thought about and you might think I'm crazy, although I think some of you might think I'm genius...
I think Monitor had a size 40 from this brand in another style jacket. So maybe it is more western style size. I probably need a 40, but wow, that is some nice jacket.
wow that's nice. How's the sizing? Is it like Japanese dimensions where a 38 is really like infant size :)
I don't trust the numbers they give on those auction sites and good luck getting pictures of the tape. So you really need to know what you're buying.
Robbie, I got a used Aero B3 off the classifieds over the summer. The day it arrived, it was literally 105 degrees (40 C I think) in Los Angeles. My wife thought I completely lost my mind as I wore it around the house in flip flops and boxer shorts.
First thing I did was take it to a tailor...
thanks for that. Makes sense. What I've been doing is looking at fit pics basically. There was a great one on WAYWT thread the other night of size 38 enfield. Messaged the member, he gave me his height and weight and it's close. But like with the Schotts, I'm either going to be on the outer...
what's confusing is the jackets I'm looking at, on the Vanson site they claim there's usually 6.5 to 7 inches of ease. So a 40 size is 47 or 23.5 p2p. Which sounds gigantic. But then I've asked a few members to measure theirs, and it's more like 5 inches of ease which is a little more doable...
ah ok, certain kind of model. But it's not like Vanson making different measurements for Japan on the standard Enfield, Model B, etc.?
I do notice on Ebay sometimes there's those brokers trying to sell Japanese based stock. The measurements always look off and they never include pictures...
I've heard so many good things about that Vanson horsehide leather. I'm going to be on the look out for more.
From a sizing perspective, do they fit the same as their usual comp weight? i.e. a 40 Enfield will be same size in either leather? I'm trying to decide on getting an Enfield. No...
Don't sleep on the Branded Garments. Obviously not as historic as Cal, but it is a gorgeous jacket. I have one almost same exact model myself. I don't ride so it might be overkill for me, but I feel invincible when I wear mine. Thick, soft leather and a nice design. Zipper is like 3x the...
